The most important part about being a nanny is creating relationships not only with the parent/guardian, but with the child. If that child loves the nanny, the nanny is in. Children are honest.
My experience with special needs children...
I worked at the May Center School for Autism and Developmental Disabilities for 4 years. This is a private school designed to educate those with social and academic deficits. It is a 1 to 1 ratio program using Applied Behavior Analysis to teach skills proposed by parents and educators alike.
I also worked as a PCA for an individual with Down syndrome who had some severe behaviors.

1. Teacher, any time I get a hug from one of the kids. I also really love watching them learn and then apply it.
2. Nanny, when I got in the kiddy pool with the child and we played Barbies for a while. I also loved playing mermaids. So many laughs.
