During the summers I work for a kids overnight camp on the coast of California called camp winnarainbow. I am responsible for a group of about 10 kids 24/7 for two weeks. It is my job to make sure their physical, mental, and emotional needs are met. Often times children will come to me to talk about their feelings of homesickness, insecurity or troubles at home, to which I always respond with care and support. I have forged great bonds with these kids and its lovely to see them return and grow each year. The youngest camper I cared for was 5 years old, but I have had groups of [phone number hidden], and 14-15 year olds. Each age range poses their own difficulties but each summer I find I have learnt so much more about caring for children.
