A little bit about me

Hi, my name is Yaylin (pronounced Jay-leen). I am 23 years old and I love children. I have been babysitting my entire life but recently became paid within the last two years. I grew up with younger siblings and cousins so I grew to enjoy spending time with kids. I have previously worked in Manhattan, The Bronx, and Queens where in most of my previous jobs I have watched two kids at a time. My most recent babysitting experience has been with 9 year old and 11 year old siblings. I am very patient, observant, and reliable. Kids would describe me as funny and caring. Currently I am enrolled CNA school and hope to begin nursing school next year. I look to gain working hours to save money for college and bond with children. I can cook, prep snacks, help with household chores, run errands, and help wherever I'm needed. I used to tutor kids with homework. I am also great with pets whom I also have experience caring for. Some hobbies of mine include reading, anime, video games, and cooking.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Maintaining strong communication skills with parents and ensuring parents and children feel safe with you. It's important to build that trust so families can be at ease knowing their child is in great hands with another person outside of family. Communicating with parents helps to build a strong relationship and help build a strong bond with all parties. Trusting someone with their kid is not easy so expressing communication and genuine love for your job can help add to the safety and well-being of the kids.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I was invited to my previous family's children's birthday party out of state. Since I don't have a driver's license, I rode with the parents out of the city to help plan, prep, and organize a surprise birthday party for their 11 year old twin children. I had been with the family for almost a year and it was very heartwarming being there and felt very happy that the family liked me enough to bring me along to such an important celebration in their child's life. As someone who's very empathetic I cried a bit knowing the kids felt safe with me and enjoyed my company a lot. It was definitely a core memory for all of us. This took place almost two years ago during the fourth of July.

Sweeney A. - Seeking Work in New York

Live-In Full-Time Child Care Provider Available in New York, NY: Sweeney A.

Hi families! My name is Sweeney Appiah, and caring for children has always been a big part of my life. I grew up in Alexandria, VA, where my mom has run her own daycare for 18 years. Being her daughter meant I was surrounded by little ones from the start; helping out, learning patience, and gaining hands-on experience with children of all ages. Because of that upbringing, childcare feels second nature to me. I love creating fun, safe, and nurturing environments where kids can learn, play, and grow. From reading stories and doing crafts to helping with homework or keeping up with active toddlers, I enjoy meeting children right where they are and giving them the attention they deserve. I know how important it is for parents to feel comfortable and supported, too. I pride myself on being dependable, trustworthy, and understanding of each family’s unique routines&needs. If you’re looking for someone who will care for your little ones as if they were family, I’d love the chance to meet you!
