Hello !! I’m Z’mya Warren (Mya for short) I am a freshman in college continuing my education at Norfolk State University majoring in Psychology, filled with radiant love for children. I’ve pursued my passion at the age 17. Landing my dream job at a preschool working as a afterschool teacher since November 2024. Becoming a childcare provider at this age is one of my biggest accomplishments. Seeing the impact I make on not only my students, but also parents and guardians is what makes me keep on pushing. With the support system I have, I am 100 percent ready to make this my career. Wishing to become a pre k- 3rd grade teacher.

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I became a after school teacher at a preschool , working with age groups 3-5
Then started babysitting and tutoring for a family with children age 2 and 7
Became a TA at the same preschool just a different location now working with ages 2-5

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Any outside activities such as riding a bike, playgrounds, using chalk, playing catch, etc.
Any indoor activities preferably based on the child such as playing dress up, dance parties, interactive educational games, coloring, reading a book, etc
One of my favorites are my alphabet and number scavenger hunts which could be played in and out doors

The most important part about being a nanny...

Being a reliable and safe role model to my children and there parental guardian. Knowing that a parent trust me with their kid is the most heart warming experience.

My experience with special needs children...

I have worked with 4 different special needs children 2 being non verbal, I try to use flexible teaching methods because every child is different. I pay close attention to what catches their attention so I can use that as a way to teach them counting and reading skills.

The most important part about being a nanny...

We had free play time and sat with one of my students and asked to help her draw on her paper, she said yes Miss. Mya, as i’m drawing I ask her who are you drawing you and mommy? She goes no that’s me and you Miss. Mya, I said awww and gave her a hug I asked her if I can take it home and she goes yes. I still have the drawing till this day,
