More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have been working in summer camps for pre school age children since I was twelve, and from there I started nannying and babysitting.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I am very active with kids, I try my best to keep
them away from any screens, to the parents’ discretion. Educational but fun games and enriching activities are my top priority.

The most important part about being a nanny...
Beyond the absolute safety of the child at all times, enriching the minds of the children in my care is most important to me. Fostering a love for learning early is crucial, and I make it my duty to pick up where the parents left off.
My experience with special needs children...
One of my first babysitting/nannying experiences was with a boy with autism. He is nonverbal and we adapted to one another together. Communication became second nature and cues for his needs were quickly developed and memorized. Children with all levels of care needs deserve to have individualized support.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One time I was nannying this very sweet 4 year old girl and she loved oreos. Her parents said she is allowed 3 oreos a day and never all at once. She was very upset with me for only giving her one oreo and so I put her down for a nap and went to clean up. While tidying up the living room, she snuck into the kitchen, and grabbed the entire box of oreos. I went to check on her 5 minutes later and the sight was as if she was bathing herself in the oreos. The parents let me know this was not a first time occurrence and that made it even more hysterical.

Babysitter Available in Washington, DC: Melany A.
Hi! My name is Melany, and I’m originally from Miami, Florida. I’m spending the summer in Washington, D.C. for an internship and would love to help local families while I’m here.
I have a lot of experience caring for kids, especially through my own family. I have two younger siblings, including my 8-year-old brother who is nonverbal and autistic. I’ve helped care for him for the past seven years, which has taught me patience, understanding, and how to stay calm in different situations.
I’m a student at Florida State University studying Political Science and Sociology. I’m very welcoming, dependable, and easy to get along with. I enjoy playing games, helping with homework, reading, doing crafts, and keeping kids entertained and safe.
I’m also open to light housekeeping, meal prep, bedtime routines, and pet care if needed. I know how important it is to trust your caregiver, and I would treat your children with the same care and kindness I give my own siblings.
