More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have been a full time classroom teacher in early childhood for the last decade. Previous to that I worked for a number of families as a part time nanny, as well as an educational tour guide in old city for a tourism company in Old City.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love going on 'wonder walks' where I can guide children in noticing all the beautiful things around us that we might walk past without noticing. Have you ever looked down and seen a plant growing between the cracks in the pavement? Have you ever looked up just in time to spot a hawk landing on the light post? This sort of exploration sets children up for a lifetime of inquisitive learning, laying a foundation for later learning skills.
I have a degree in music and love to incorporate song and dance into early literacy and movement skills.
At the end of the day though, I follow the child. The activity that I find the most engaging is one that your child is drawn to in the moment.

My experience with special needs children...
I have experience working with teams of specialists (OT, SLP, PT, Hearing Specialists, ect) when assisting families with the beginnings of early intervention. I have taught children who were on the spectrum, who have ADHD, who were deaf/HOH, and who use physical mobility aides.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The fire fighters came to the camp I was working at this summer. One child LOVED firetrucks, but the reality of the noise the made frightened him enough that he had to go back to our room. I pulled out his fire truck shirt from his extra clothes bin to show him. He got so excited he decided to try again. When we came back outside all of the fire fighters lit up with excitement seeing his shirt. He gained so much confidence from that moment that he ended up going into the truck all on his own! It's truly wonderful to see these moments of self-confidence grow for children.
