A little bit about us…

We need a nanny part time during the day to watch our infant daughter (6 weeks), as mom is going back to work (remotely - from home). Mom will be home, but will need someone to watch, help feed, and care for the baby until dad gets home from work. Roughly 4 hours a day during the week. Hours will likely be from about 10am to 2pm.

We have a park at the end of our street and a shopping center around the corner; so the location is convenient for walks and outings. May like some help with light chores like the baby’s laundry, restocking changing table, etc., but mostly just need help caring for our little girl while we work. Please note that we have a sweet 30lb Australian Labradoodle female as well, and you might need to let her out (in our back yard) from time to time. We are trying to follow the BabyWise method of sleep training, so our little girl is currently on a feed/sleep schedule with short wake windows.

There will likely be a need for additional hours in the future (caring for her when we go out) and possibly vacation assistance.

A little bit about us…

We absolutely love our RIE-based nanny, Ariel. On Wed-Fri, Ariel cares for our younger son who was born in December 2017. We hope to connect with a family looking for care for an infant of similar age. Our nanny is truly exceptional, the best we have worked with! Very experienced with babies, well-read, and a truly compassionate soul. She is SO good!

Sharing a child care philosophy is also big priority. We really love the natural, respectful, and child-led approach of RIE (check out www.RIE.org). Honestly, we are not strict subscribers to the RIE methods, but it is a huge influence to our approach to childcare. No worries if you are not super familiar with RIE; just as long as you are interested in learning (it's actually pretty straight forward and probably similar to practices you already have in your home). What we learned with our older son is that it is so much easier and smoother if both families are speaking the same baby language and using the same tactics!

Lifestyles are more liberal leaning (especially our nanny). Education, getting outdoors, and letting kids be kids are all things that are important to us. We'd love to do a parenting class together every 3 or 4 months for support on tackling things like sleep regression, potty training, and of course temper tantrums!

Our house in Happy Valley/Clackamas is well set up for babies and tots with large and safe play areas indoors and outdoors. We are also open to using your home in the Portland area.
