This was a sports activities program designed for low-income students. As one of the program staff coordinators I had a group of girls ages 10-12 that I was responsibly for. I had to make sure they were supervised at all times, be sure that they got to there activities on time, and I also participated in the activities with the students (dodge ball, dance, music). I also had to use my conflict resolution skills to help resolve conflicts as problems would arise. . This was a summer college prep-program for low-income high school students. The high school kids actually came and lived on campus with me in the dorm rooms from Sunday evening till Thursday evening on a week to week basis. I was in charge of and managed a group of 8 girls from ages 14-18. On one hand I was their resident assistant, teaching them how to live with one another and teaching them how to be clean and share spaces. On the other hand I was one of the program coordinators, where we had to put programs and activities together for the kids to participate in after they attended their classes. These girls would go to class on the college campus every morning (they received college credit for the classes the passed and completed), then they would go to lunch, and then they would attend the various activities we as program coordinators set up or the ones that were provided by Upward Bound itself. Whether it was a yoga, dance, or sports class all of the kids had an opportunity to participate. I was also responsible for writing lesson plans and attending meetings with all other stuff daily. Set up and lead activities for the children, such as arts and craft, basketball, indoor games, swimming, and talent shows. Assisted teachers with changing diapers, prepared breakfast/ lunches, read to the children, overseeing playground time, motor skills training for children, and leading music and art classes for the children.

I started with child care services when I was old enough to babysit. I have always enjoyed all ages of children. My experience includes private home daycare, and organized group daycare. I have experience with “special needs” children and different size families. During my position with a autistic boy, I was responsible for giving him medication and carefully watching him. Getting to know the families I have worked for is one of the best benefits in this job. Working for larger daycare centers like PlayWorks was a great way to learn the importance of safety, cpr, nutrition and structure play. The downside of larger daycare centers is that I worked with different children every day, which wouldn’t allow me to really get to know them. I understand that all children are different, and getting to know them better helps make a big difference if everyone’s happiness. Theirs and mine! I have taken care of infants, toddlers, pre-school age and grade school age. I have learned to combine activities so that everyone can participate!

I have two younger siblings and many young cousins whom I have had the opportunity to watch after often. I have been babysitting ever since I was old enough to watch children, and I have had a variety of responsibilities with all ages of children. I can cook meals, clean the house, do laundry, etc. I have experience in babysitting children who are disabled (mentally & physically) or have learning disabilities. I have been a camp counselor at elementary and youth camps many times, for up to three weeks at a time. I have also babysat children in other countries, in a variety of social settings and circumstances. I have also had experience teaching and assisting in Sunday school classes at church. I also sing and play guitar, piano and flute. I am a huge fan of slim to none television and other electronic entertainment, and I always do my best to create an adventurous and creatively stimulating environment for children. I believe that when they have the ability to express themselves and use their gifts and talents in their every day lives, they grow into experienced, adventurous, capable individuals who have much more fulfilling lives than those who were raised in front of a TV! I love to invest in children's lives, by being actively involved and committed to their development. Thank you for reading!

Most recently I nannied for a family with a 19 month old boy. I traveled with them for a month in Dubai, Amsterdam, and Monte Carlo. I assisted with plane travel, meals, dressing, safety, supervision, and behavior. Previously I was a nanny for a celebrity family in Brentwood, Ca. with an 8yr old boy and 12yr old girl. I was responsible for transportation, meal prep, grocery shopping, email correspondence with school and friends, schedule maintenance, house and pet sitting when family was away, and other family errands. I was a live in nanny in Santa Monica for a year and a half. I worked for an engaged mother of 3 children ages 5, 10, and 12. I frequently traveled with the family and alone with the kids both domestically and internationally. I was responsible for all meals, transportation (all 3 kids attended different schools in different cities), getting the children up and dressed in the morning, shopping for the kids and home, assisting with homework, attending parent meetings at children's schools, and organizing appointments and activities. In Scottsdale, Az I was a live in nanny for a divorced father of a 7 year old boy and a 9 year old girl. I was with the children at all times when they were at their father's house (per a court order) My duties included meal preparation, getting the kids ready in the morning, transportation, travel with the family along with pre trip preparation, arranging activities and play dates, providing emotional support for the family, and keeping the house tidy. I am a black belt in karate and was an instructor at my studio for ages 3 and up for many years. I also ran a summer karate camp. I gained close relationships with many families at the studio and several of them used me as a babysitter. I worked in a fitness center daycare for over a year where I was responsible for children ages 6 months to 13 years. I have confident proven capabilities to handle multiple children. I started babysitting when I was only 10 years old and have always had a natural ability to bond with children of all ages. I am very outgoing, creative, responsible, patient, caring, and dependable. I feel I was raised with strong values of honesty, courtesy, respect, and discipline. I consider myself strict when it comes to situations that help the kids I work with grow into responsible, honest, and respectful young citizens of the world. I also consider myself a fun upbeat person and a blast to be around! I have my own car, a 2008 Dodge SUV with insurance, and I have a clean driving record. I am also CPR certified and have a valid passport. I come from a wonderful loving family, I have a college degree, and I can be a great addition to any family. I can provide references and letters of recommendation vouching for my abilities.

I'm in contact with kids since my teenagers, in Brazil before to come I worked in a day-care for 6 months which was a great experience. I moved to Los Angeles in April 2010, it will complete 3 years, and I came as an AuPair. In my 1st host family I helped to raise a little baby girl, when I arrived she was just 14 months and it's wonderful to see how she grow up and learned lots of things during my period there, I stayed with them for 1 year. My 2nd host family I worked with 3 wonderful girls, 3, 5 and 8 years old. They are great and lovely, I had the best time with this family. They work on a film business, so I was alone all the time with them doing everything by myself, since wake them up, prepare to school, drop off, pick up, laundry, cook, help with homework, bath and bed time. My 3rd host family I worked with twin boys when they were 2.5 months old. We had great times at the mat kicking, walking on the neighborhood, I used to feed, change diapers, play, sing, read, help in their development as tummy time, grab things, roll over and craw. I also was responsable for dream feeding and sleep training. I love kids and always had contact with them, I always cared of my cousins since infant, the youngest today is 4 1/2 y and the oldest is 16 y. In the church's nursery in Brasil, I always helped some sundays a month with infants from 0 to 1 y... I LOVE infants!!!! I also worked in a day-care for 5 months, and I have references from there, I worked with babies from 1 to 3, and sometimes I used to help with the kids from 4 to 7. I used to help with the meals, put them to bed, play a lot, bath them everyday, teach the colors and numbers, help them to draw, help them to speak... I'm lovely with the children and I like to play, to help with the homeworks, feed, bath, to teach speak, play, sing, things like this.

What are some common responsibilities for nannies in Los Angeles, GA?

As a parent, it’s natural for you to ask your nanny for a little extra help around the house. However, the boundaries for a nannies duties vary from person to person. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met. This includes things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active, that they have a healthy diet and a sanitary home. Take your nanny out one of Los Angeles’s great restaurants, learn about their childhood, and discuss your parenting philosophy. Finally, be sure to resolve conflicts as they arise. Open communication is crucial to ensuring a healthy long-term relationship.
