I spent about 10 years working as a nanny for several families spread across the US. However, I have spent the past 16+ years working as a baby nurse. This included meeting the family as they arrived home from the hospital with their newborn and assisting with all things connected with the baby and initial care of mom as needed. Such things as care of nursery, laundry and care and upkeep of equipment being just a portion of those duties I usually handled. In addition to that, since I am a licensed nurse and a certified lactation counselor, I am able to assist and support mom with breastfeeding and issues that can sometimes arise. Getting adequate rest for mom is essential for a more expeditious recovery and fewer post partum problems. I can help with breastpumping and caring for equipment. Whether it is your wish to breastfeed or bottlefeed (or a combination of both, I will support your choices to the fullest. My previous clients have hired (and/or extended my stay) up to 6 months depending on their need. Some families just want some respite help for the first few weeks, others want assistance with sleep training and beyond. One of my strengths is helping parents to establish a routine to encourage baby to sleep through the night faster. This in turn enables baby to integrate into family life easier. Having an established routine for the first child makes daily life more comfortable for a new mom, allowing her to be able to enjoy just being a mom. It can be very helpful to have a support system. If there are additional children, especially toddlers, having a baby nurse sometimes allows for a buffer (not all children are ready to share parents with a new baby) or grants mom the ability to spend individual time with her other child/children knowing baby is well cared for, making the adjustment for the other child easier and less traumatic. I have provided all levels of care from full care to almost an advisory position depending on what the family's desires are. I have worked with twins and triplets along with, of course, singletons and preemies. I can run errands if needed. I have also helped with information in preparing for baby's arrival as far as nursery/equipment is concerned. If I was located close enough, I would be willing to help with setup of nursery.

I love kids, infants through teens, and have worked with them in volunteer settings as well as for my career since 1994. I volunteered in the infants and toddlers area of my church for 4 years. I also volunteered in the infant department of a local Christian preschool for elective credits in HS. I nannied for a family and watched their infant daughter for the first 4 years of her life as well as their 3 year old son. I had the joy of nannying for a friend of my family's who had a 2 year old and a 4 year old, but both kids started school full time and my services were no longer needed. I worked as a Pre-K teacher at a private Christian school and after that I transferred to their daycare department to help with the Pre-K through Junior High aged students after-school program. I left there to work as a two year old teacher at another Christian school that was much closer to my house. I am currently tutoring through the local school district while I'm looking for a nannying job. And every Tuesday night I attend school in pursuit of my Masters in Speech Communication Disorders.

I'm the oldest of 6 children. I also babysat for other families, as my mother was a member of The , so when I wasn't taking care of my 2 sets of twin brothers and sisters, that were 8 and 9 yrs younger than me, plus a brother 2 yrs younger, I babysat for families that also had multiples. I also have a 25 yr old son who is now a Math Professor. I raised him by myself after his father passed away when he was 7.
