I have a brother four years younger than me, so I have been babysitting him ever since I could stay home by myself. When I was old enough I babysat all of my mother's friend's children. I also was called to babysit many children from families within my church. I went through a one year relationship with someone who has a sweet and beautiful two year old child named Athena, I have learned so many useful things from her to help me in any nanny job that I get. My first steady nanny job was with an 11 year old girl that I picked up from school every week day and took care of while her father was at work. This job began in the summer of 2010, unfortunately it ended February 2011 due to the child's new custody agreement. I knew after working with her that I wanted to pursue another nanny job. Recently i worked with a family that was going through a divorce, they had a 9 year old boy and a 13 year old girl. I picked them up from school every day except for the days their dad had them. Unfortunately i only had the opportunity to work with them for around a month and a half before they were orphaned. This kind of job is important to me, because you make a connection with a family that is irreversible. I know i will remain in contact with these kids, and I feel like our bond can help them remain somewhat normal after losing their parents.

I was a nanny for a family with three children, ages 6 (girl), 12, and 14 (boys) for almost 2 years. I was responsible for picking up the 6-year-old from after-care, and the occasional duties of transportation regarding the boys. I did all grocery shopping for the family, prepared dinners, packed the 6-year-old girl's lunches daily, and also helped with laundry. I also assisted all the children with nightly homework, keeping them up to date with all assignments and expectations, and keeping the parents informed of the children's progress and happenings at the school. I was in constant contact with the parents and teachers as an intermediary communicator about the children's academic progress. I also had a lot of fun with these kids, always facilitating and taking part in active and fun activities. Currently, I now work for a family with two kids, ages 7 and 10. The 10-year-old has developmental disabilities. I only help out on occasion, but when I do I am an asset to the family and they value my interactions with the kids, especially the 10-year-old. Despite his developmental issues, he has really opened up to me. I have been working for this family for three months.

I worked for four years with a beautiful family. When I started working for the family Saun (the oldest son,was 3 years)and soon after that I got hired, (less than a year later) we welcomed Zack. My duties at the beginning were taking care of Saun, but he started to assist pre-school. I was mainly baby sitting Zack. I also did some ligth housekeeping, like helping to tidy up the house, vacumm the living room, do the laundry for the kids. I would also take the children to the park sometimes. when Saun get home from the school, I would prepare something to eat, help him to color his book or play for a while Zack was in the play pan or asleep. I tried to read as much as I could because its important to expand their vocabulary at early age.

I have had the blessing to have worked with wonderful and loving families that have treated me as family. Years after, I still get to see the kids I have worked with and it makes me happy to think that I was part of their growing process in some way.
