Debbie S. - Seeking Work in Santa Monica

Hourly rate14.28 / hour

I recently cared for a 13 month old girl. I started when she was 8 weeks old. I was with her 9 hours a day, and was in charge of her meals, driving her to activities, and all basic care. Before her, I cared for a little boy. I started when he was newborn. I was in the house at all times, along with a stay at home mom. I helped put him down for naps, feed him, do basic cleaning, and laundry. Changing his diapers. Took him for walks. Prior to him, I cared for a little girl since she was 8 months old until she was 27 months. I took her on play dates, to the park, cooked her food, cleaned the house, put her to bed. I found her family medical insurance, did all the laundry, and was in charge of basic household duties. The job was full time. Before her I took care of a 3 year old part time. I also arranged play dates, cooked her food, and did the child's laundry. Prior to that I cared for a six year old girl full time. Again, the job required arranging play dates, taking to and from school, helping with basic homework, cooking simple meals. This job ended as the family no longer needed a nanny, but I still babysit for them frequently.

I was a nanny for a wonderful family in Aspen Colorado. The child that I nannied for was a year and a half old and one of the best behaved tots around. we had allot of fun doing yoga together, cooking together and going on allot of hikes and adventures. I was also an assistant to the mother of this family. Following that I was a nanny for a family in Los angeles for two years, with a new born and 3yo, untill they were 2&almost 5. I have additional experience babysitting children from the age of 3 months to teenagers. I was also an assistant coach for a team. I am very organized and can also cook. I was a head pastry chef/Baker as well. I am also a Nationally registered EMT, and received my certification through UCLA.

i was hired by shadi, one of my friends, when her daughter melina was 3 months old. i was with their family for 6 six years. Shadi had her second child Ryeen on july 2011, which is now 18 months old. Unfortuanetly for me, they had to leave for New Hampshire because of a good job offer for Shadi's husband.

When I was high school I spent 2 years babysitting my math teacher's children after they were done with class. Over those years we formed a great relationship and I have been looking to get into childcare since. I had my first babysitting job when I was in sixth grade and have the chance to work odd jobs babysitting here and there over the years that followed.

Hi mommies! I have an amazing nanny who has been with us for a year taking care of my 16 month old . We have been doing a nanny share with another family which has been going great except the other family will not be continuing as of Jan 1st. I really really really want to keep our nanny and therefore am looking for a new family to share with! The nanny would take care of both babies at the same time, and the families would share the cost of her salary. Here are some details:
Location: we live in Santa Monica, so preferably the other family would be nearby so we can alternate houses
Hours: M-F 9a-5p but could be flexible
Start date: Jan
We LOVE our nanny and she is so good with our little girl!!

What are some common responsibilities for nannies in Santa Monica, CA?

As a parent, it’s natural for you to ask your nanny for a little extra help around the house. However, the boundaries for a nannies duties vary from person to person. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met. This includes things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active, that they have a healthy diet and a sanitary home. When tasks go beyond child care, for example scrubbing kitchen counters, folding laundry, gathering groceries, or teaching a language, you will likely need to provide additional compensation.

To start, it’s important you set expectations and are aligned on compensation from day one. Take your nanny out one of Santa Monica’s great restaurants, learn about their childhood, and discuss your parenting philosophy. Finally, be sure to resolve conflicts as they arise. Open communication is crucial to ensuring a healthy long-term relationship.
