Hi, I'm Amy. I love to interact and spend time with kids - it is such a joy to work with them! I am patient, attentive, calm, positive, honest, responsible, and dependable. I am very family oriented, and my faith in God is central to my life and the way I live. I have over nine years of experience caring for kids from age 1 to 12 and I absolutely love it! I have also worked at a local elementary school assisting with behavior management during recesses, which was challenging but also very enjoyable. I have had up to four kids in my care at once, and I have experience with young twins. I have an AA degree in Psychology plus six ECE units. I think it is important for children to have a stable and positive environment in which they can learn and grow, and I am confident that I can provide that for them. I've found that in general, kids certainly like to test you to see what they can get away with, but I think it's because they need to know you care enough to set boundaries, which I do. I can cook/bake, do housework, care for pets, help with homework, and/or transport to and from activities. I greatly enjoy being around children and love to be a positive part of their lives!

I worked at a Child Care Center in Woodland,CA. There we worked with preschool children. During the morning I sat with them to have breakfast, then I helped them to put everything away. After cleaning, they would choose what to do (paint, do puzzles, etc), after playing we would go outside to play, when playtime was over, we would do "circle time" where they would learn shapes or colors by signing or using materials that we had. After that we would all together eat, after eating we cleaned and then they took a nap. If some of them couldn't sleep I would come to them and helped them sleep by caressed their hair. When nap time was over, most of them would go home and those who stayed, ate something, we would play a little and then go home. And I sometimes, take care of my cousins, whenever their parents go out or have an emergency. one of them is 1 year and 5 five months and the others are 11 years old.

I have been a live in nanny and a live out. I have worked with kids from ages 4 months to 14 years old. I am CPR and first aid certified. I love to help the kids learn and grow as much as possible by doing lots of educational crafts. What are some common responsibilities for nannies in Woodland, CA?

As a parent, it’s natural for you to ask your nanny for a little extra help around the house. However, the boundaries for a nannies duties vary from person to person. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met. This includes things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active, that they have a healthy diet and a sanitary home. When tasks go beyond child care, for example scrubbing kitchen counters, folding laundry, gathering groceries, or teaching a language, you will likely need to provide additional compensation.

How can I ensure I have a great relationship with my nanny?

To start, it’s important you set expectations and are aligned on compensation from day one. This includes outlining vacation days, a protocol for sick days, and everything else you would want your own employer to cover. From here, spend time getting to know them. Take your nanny out one of Woodland’s great restaurants, learn about their childhood, and discuss your parenting philosophy. Finally, be sure to resolve conflicts as they arise. Open communication is crucial to ensuring a healthy long-term relationship.
