I am looking for a Nanny position that I can do part-time. I have raised 4 of my own children & love kids! I am a Classically Trained Chef w/a focus on Alternative Diets, Special Dietary Needs and Food Allergens. I am very much an advocate of all Natural, Organic, Local & Sustainable. I would love the opportunity to discuss your needs and see if I may be of service to you. I have shopped at most of the “Healthy Grocery Stores & Markets in the Boulder area. And, I have done Cooking Demo’s/Shopping in both The Boulder/Longmont Farmer’s Market. Boulder is known to be a Foodie City; but, the Local Farmer’s/Entrepreneur’s give it that small town personable feel! I love shopping in these places & supporting our own!
I am a Chef by trade, a communicator at heart, empathic by nature, and nurturing from the soul. I believe that part of one’s success lies beneath their “concept or understanding.” I enjoy seeing people happy. But, more so; I enjoy seeing them flourish & prosper at life!
I am inspired by several of my Culinary Instructors @ Escoffier School of Culinary Arts. One of the Chef’s, had a vision of me cooking; in large numbers and quantities! I remember thinking no way! But, funny enough; it’s a lot of what I do!
I recently held a position as Executive/Head Chef in the Boulder Valley School District; for an Alternative High School, in the area. I am originally from Texas, but moved to Boulder, Co., to attend Culinary School. During this time; I worked w/Escoffier School of Culinary Arts as a High School Presenter/Instructor; and decided to make Boulder, my home. I have had several jobs as a Chef & all have been with an educational piece.
Being a Chef for 100 teenagers can be daunting at times; but, rewarding as well. Responsible for all aspects of the kitchen: budget/cost, shopping, meal/menu planning, re-stocking, food/meal preparation, and teaching all Culinary Curriculum. During my time with the school system, I developed & grew the culinary program: implementing “the garden to lunch” program w/our own vegetables each season. Responsible for all recipes, and the history from each cuisine from around the world.
I believe in setting goals throughout life; and achieving, as many as possible! As a professional in your field, one should know when to ask for help & know when it takes a team to complete the assignment. It is about meeting the needs of the people, in a timely fashion & doing your best!
I adapt well under pressure/stress & I am a detailed studious person. I like to follow up & stay on top of my projects. I get to know my co-workers & clients. I am always available for questions/needs and/or available to pitch-in when/where needed.
Also, I have been in the healthcare realm; for the better part of 25 years. I received my Bachelor of Science Degree from University of Texas. I am fortunate to be able to combine both Science and Culinary into one passion; that of food. My experience is vast & I’m proud of the achievements, that I have gained in this ever-changing field.
I am loyal & dedicated to my job! I believe, you not only representative yourself with your actions; but, that of your employer as well. One should be professional & always mannerly. You may be, the first line of contact, that leaves the lasting impression. So, make it positive!
I very much enjoy teaching & helping students accomplish their goals! I am excited to meet w/you & discuss this position & future plans. I would like to thank you; for your time & consideration. I look forward to hearing from you soon! Have a wonderful rest of your day!
Sincerely,
Chef Dana Springer
