I have been working with children through teaching at camps and schools, volunteering and other forms of education for most of my life. I teach children’s theatre ages 5-18 : basic theatre, Shakespeare, movement, voice, and miscellaneous creative work . I am used to dealing with 10 or more kids all at one time; sometimes the classes I teach have been up to 16 in number. I also work as a performer with a children's theatre company. We bring theatre to schools all over Colorado. With this company I have spent the past 2 years of my life in Denver, Boulder and Fort Collins schools. The shows we bring to the schools are purely written by children. We also go to the schools and workshop the kids writing with the kids themselves. They get to see the process of us, the actor/educators turning their words and poetry to theatre. This is a company that best exemplifies why I love to work with children through theatre and creative process. Kids benefit from creative expression because their creative juices are flowing, they learn to write comprehensively, learn the process of overcoming challenges in order to turn out work with integrity, they learn how to achieve accomplishment, they learn to communicate with groups, and learn that working can be fun. I taught dance when I was in middle school and as an adult. When teaching dance I was teaching ages 5-15. I spent a lot of my teenage and high school years baby sitting. I am also 9 years older than my brother so I did a lot of babysitting as a young girl as well. I also work with Seeking Sitters. This agency requires that I pass criminal checks as well as background checks.

My first time as a babysitter was when i was 11yrs old for 2 boys who lived across the street, one of which had a disability. I would watch them for about 4hours here and there. When I was 16, my oldest sister had a baby girl, whom I would watch from late afternoons through the following morning. Since then, I have been a fill in babysitter for family friends who were in need of a sitter on short notice. When I turned 20, I had my own son. All summed up, I know how to change diapers, prepare meals (including for infants), bathing, go on fun outings, and keep to a necessary schedule such as school.

I have been caring for children since I was 11 yrs old. I worked in the church nursery, bible school and sunday school. I watched infants-10 yr olds almost every weekend, overnights, etc. I raised my three children to adulthood as a stay at home mom. During that time I also did childcare daily for friends and family. My daughters are currently in nanny/daycare positions and one of them is a junior in the Early childhood education program at UNC. caring for little ones is in our blood.

I have been caring for children in one form or another for most of my life. It began with caring for my brother when we were young, then it graduated into me caring for a family of 3 children, all girls, ages 11, 6 and 1 month, when I was about 13 years old. I cared for that family on almost all evenings as the parents worked odd hours and occasionally enjoyed a night out together. During the summer I took over most of their daily care. Once I went off to college, I parted ways as their care taker, but I kept in touch with them for quite some time. During the summers while I was in college I cared for another family of 3 children, 2 girls and a boy. The girls were 5 and 6 months and the little boy was 3. While caring for them, I fixed them their meals and snacks, took them to the park, and arranged crafts and other activities that also incorporated some educational aspect.

I just moved back to Fort Collins from Florida. I was working there full-time, watching a 7-month old baby boy. Before leaving Colorado previously, I left a nanny job behind that I absolutely loved for the desire to experience new things in a new place. I watched three girls (infant, 3 years, and 6 years). I worked about 25-30 hours a week, and loved every minute of it! I also acquired CPR and first aid certification to make me feel more comfortable about being with the kids. I have always had a strong love for children, ever since I was a young girl. I actually found my love for them when I started baby-sitting when I was about 12 years old. I had random neighborhood baby-sitting jobs which continued to boost my experience caring for kids.

What are some common responsibilities for nannies in Fort Collins, OH?

As a parent, it’s natural for you to ask your nanny for a little extra help around the house. However, the boundaries for a nannies duties vary from person to person. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met. This includes things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active, that they have a healthy diet and a sanitary home.
