I am 18 years old and am currently attending Metropolitan State University majoring in Aviation and Aerospace Science. Although I am young, I have a lot of experience working with kids and love watching them grow and succeed! While in high school I volunteered for 3 years at Pleasant View Elementary School for National Honors Society. At the school I did everything from running after-school clubs , like fun + fitness, to working one on one with students on home work and various projects. I also spent a week at an overnight camp with sixth graders called Outdoor Education Lab School. This program allows sixth graders to get out of the classroom and learn in a completely new environment. They go on different hikes all week and choose “electives” to take while getting to interact with each other and earn rewards for good behavior. As a leader here, my responsibility was to take about 12 kids at a time and teach them about the biosphere! In addition to this I was responsible for about 15 kids in the bunks at night along with 2 other leaders. The most rewarding experience that I have had was working with special needs kids at a summer job I had previously with a facility called Megan’s Place. Here, I was responsible for 3 kids at a time watching them and making sure they were happy and healthy. We took the kids on all sorts of field trips to Jump Street, the rec center for swimming and more! I was able to get to know and see each of them grow. It is also because of this job that I am trained in some medical procedures, know a little bit of sign language, and am CPR certified. I look forward to meeting your family!
