I have babysat since I was about 13 years old. When I was younger I babysat neighbors or family friend's children. I would babysit mostly everyday, watching my neighbors children after they arrived home from school. Most children I babysat at the time were between the ages of 4 to 10. As I got older I started babysitting children of older ages and children with mental disabilities. When I turned 17, I started regularly babysitting for a family of 3 children, one of the children had Aspergers. Working with him taught me a lot I needed to know about how to take care of children with disabilities. Also the family had a one year old, so I learned the basics of taking care of a younger child. I also babysat for many other families during this time, most children being between the ages of 2-12. During this time period I also had a 2 year old sister and a 5 year old brother, I took care of them a lot, watching them almost daily for my parents. When I was 18, I started nannying for a family of twins. I was with them from 6 am to about 5 pm everyday, so we pretty much did everything together. We would do educational work together, play outside, go to the pool, go to parks, go to museums for children, and so much more. I started babysitting them when they were a little over three and just stopped last fall due to them starting school. I learned a lot about supporting and helping children grow positively by being with them everyday. During the time period I did nanny, I began college during the evenings, I began the process of getting my teaching degree. I am two years in and have learned so much more about taking care of children. Because of my degree, I have participated in student-teaching. From last September to January I taught three 7th grade English classes, alongside a certified teacher. This experience has taught me not only how to be responsible for multiple students at a time, but also many techniques in teaching children. It also allowed me to work with children of many different cultures and understand to treat every child as an individual.

Dear Family, First thank you for taking the time to view my profile. I am currently located in the Washington DC metro area but looking to relocate as soon as my current position ends. I am currently a providing child care for a 5 year old little girl and a 1.5 year old girl. I have worked with families ages ranging from newborn to 15 years, some with special needs and up to 4 siblings at one time. I have been with this family for 3.5 years and have become very close with the entire family, but the mother has decided to stop working and be a stay-at-home mom and focus on her girls, so that leaves me with the chance to find another family to help out. In my nanny position I do cooking, cleaning, errands, etc. so that is not something I am opposed to doing. I do all kinds of activies with my child from playing dress up, to working on writing and letters, to field trips, playdates, etc. I have remained close with all of the families that I have worked for over the years but I've been known to go visit my old family of 4 girls where we play barbies and dress up to teaching them how to cook and working with the youngest on her english (she was adopted from Guatemala) to swimming and gymnastics. Not only do I do these activites when I am on the clock but I also do things with them when I am not working, like taking the girls and their friends to movies or going shopping.

I was an Au Pair for a year with a family, and then extended for almost another year with them with tourist visa. I took care of 3 kids (twins and a new born in that moment). Did tons of things, teach them songs, to talk, fed them, changed diapers, bottles, playing indoors and outside, going for walks, making breakfast and lunch (dinners some times), did their laundry, potty train, and teach them spanish! I my country took care of many kids of people I knew on my life, since they were born until kids of 12-13th years old since I was studying my degree.. Made facepainting on the zoo as a volunteer for a month, and support groups in summer camps on my university with kids from 3 years old to 12 years old!!

I am very loving and attentive to children. I have 4 beautiful children myself. I always put their needs first because I want them to feel loved and cared about, I want them to grow up happiliy. I make sure I let them know how important, smart and beautiful they are. For me a confident child is the key to a happy childhood filled with great memories, therefore a bright future. I also make sure to take time and explained to them in cases when they are wrong, that is is ok to make mistakes to be able to learn from them to move forward.

I began babysitting while in middle school and babysat all through high school. I still have several families I babysit for on a regular basis. I also have seven years experience teaching swim lessons in group lessons as well as private lessons. I have spent my past two summers babysitting three times a week for a family with three children. My responsibilities with these children included make sure their chores were completed, feeding them lunch, taking them to the community pool, and tutoring one of the children in math. I am pursuing a degree in teaching and have three years experience teacher aiding in 2nd and 5th grade classrooms.
