Hello. I have been working with and watching children for over 15 years, starting as a babysitter when I was younger through most recently a full time nanny. I have just returned from a four month job as a full time nanny in New Zealand. My role was to care for a 2-year-old boy and 3-month-old girl (7months when I left). Duties included, but were not limited to, cooking all meals and feeding the children, playtime and activities (park, riding bikes, trips to children's center and play dates, etc.), nap time, bath and bed time, transporting the children to music and play class (via car), reading, singing, dancing and engaging the children in educational activities. The assignment was only for four months as the mother was going back to work and the children would be starting day care and preschool when I left. Prior to my job in New Zealand, I worked as a part time nanny for several families in New York City ages ranging from 1-week-old to the preteen years. I am energetic, engaging, have a can do attitude, and trustworthy. I am a great listener and communicator. I believe in engaging children by playing games, going to the park and other activities, including reading. I enjoy watching children thrive. I am extremely reliable, a non-smoker and have exceptional references upon request (references from the Washington DC metro area, NYC and New Zealand). Having been raised and living in Bethesda, Maryland since I was 4-years-old I am very comfortable with the Washington DC metro area. I know where everything is, how to get from here to there and very comfortable taking your children to activities or parks or museums as needed. I love to cook and am happy to do light cleaning/straightening up. I look forward to meeting you and your family.

Hi my name is Kamy and I have been babysitting for about 12 years and a full time nanny for about 6 months here in USA, I watched 2 children on a daily basis when they came home from school until 9:00 p.m. I helped them with their homework, drove they after school to the extra activities, played, fed them snack and dinner, bathed the children, and put them in bed. I have had experience with children ages 6 months to 14 years old. I also have experience watching my younger brothers and sister. Before and after I graduated college I worked at , which is a daycare/ learning music center, where I was a teacher's support and caretaker. I also helped my aunt, she is a private teacher to kids with down syndrome. I also helped with a college program, where I was a caretaker to homeless kids, we spent the day playing and making food to they. I still continue to have experience with children babysitting when someone needs. I am currently looking for a family how I can live in so I could learn more with the kids and with the family.

I am an Early Childhood Education Major, with 9 years of babysitting experience for children from infancy to school age. I was a substitute at a daycare in Potomac for two years, and I am currently interning at a nursery school in Gaithersburg. I also worked as a nanny for a family of five and another family of two. For these families I cooked simple meals, drove them to and from school and to other activities, helped with laundry and homework, and ran errands. I am receiving my associates degree in Early Childhood Education this spring, and will be continuing my education at Towson University to get my bachelors degree in the fall.

What are some common responsibilities for nannies in Potomac, MD?

As a parent, it’s natural for you to ask your nanny for a little extra help around the house. However, the boundaries for a nannies duties vary from person to person. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met. This includes things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active, that they have a healthy diet and a sanitary home. When tasks go beyond child care, for example scrubbing kitchen counters, folding laundry, gathering groceries, or teaching a language, you will likely need to provide additional compensation.

Take your nanny out one of Potomac’s great restaurants, learn about their childhood, and discuss your parenting philosophy. Finally, be sure to resolve conflicts as they arise. Open communication is crucial to ensuring a healthy long-term relationship.
