As a licensed and practicing elementary school teacher, I have a real passion for children and have spent years volunteering and working with children of all ages.
Inquiry Specialist: September 2012- June 2012. Taught science and social studies to K-3rd graders through hands on experiments and problem solving activities. Highlights include observing and caring for organisms such as crayfish, worms, butterflies, and meal worms, making paper, sifting pebbles from sand, and creating roller coasters.
Family Nanny: June 2009- August 2012. Cared for 3 children (2 girls, 1 boy) over the course of 3 summers. Managed summer math and reading practice, provided transportation to various camps and sporting practice, made meals, supervised play dates, and provided general care.
Family Nanny: May 2008- September 2008. Cared for 5 children under the age of 9, provided structured days with a variety of creative activities, solved problems and mediated conflict.
Playground Leader: May 2007- August 2007. Led 12-15 grade school children though summer programming, instructed and supervised activities, crafts, and games. Also worked in the 3 year old class supervising creative play and crafts.
Volunteer and Room Leader: September 2001- May 2007. Managed care for 10-15 young children infant to 2 years old, supervised 2-3 other volunteers, engaged in creative play, feed, changed, and otherwise cared for children.
Storyteller and Worship Leader: September 2007- May 2008. Organized and led worship for classes of preschoolers through first grade, presented bible stories in a creative and engaging manner.
Fine Arts Camp : June 2007, June 2008, June 2009. Designed, developed and led a 4 day theater and fine art class for 20-30 K-5 graders, including daily focuses, guest teachers, and a final project.
