I have baby sat since I was 12 years old with a lot of different families. When I turned 18 I became involved with day care centers and have seven months of experience working in a steady environment with children of all age groups but specializing with infants to older toddlers. I have now been a nanny for the last 4 years with three different families. The first family I was a nanny to an adventurous little boy who is now 5 but was 2 when I had started, and a charming little girl who I had been with since birth up until 14 months. I really enjoyed the family and was blessed to be a part of their children's life. I then worked with another family taking care of a boy who is seven and full of questions and 3 year old boy who LOVES to make you laugh. Unfortunately They were not able to keep me on staff. Since moving back to Minnesota from Texas two years ago. I have been working for a family in Eden Prairie. I help out with the children once they get home from school, and full time in the summer. The children are 10 (boy) 11 (girl) and 13(boy). The youngest child has some special care needs and needs close attention. I help out with homework, errands, cleaning, cooking dinner, and keeping the kids engaged in age appropriate activities. Their Mom has worked out her schedule so that she will be able to be home with them now as she has missed being a stay at home Mom.

The foundation of my childcare experience began working at the xx in Edina when I was 15 . I ran a program for toddlers called xx which was for 2 and 3 year- olds. I taught swimming for 15 years at the xx especially in the summers when I was in college and also as a lifeguard. I continued working closely with the middle school And highschool youth at church, and then I became involved in children and youth ministry when I was 23. I have done youth ministry, chaplaincy, and teaching for 21 years. I have three children of my own. I will be going back to seminary on the weekends to obtain my hospital chaplaincy degree specializing in children and teens next year.

I have been babysitting since age 10 and have been a nanny since i was able to drive. I love children, especially infants! The past two summers i have been a nanny for 4 amazing boys all under age 8 and have now been blessed to care for their new baby new girl as well this summer. I have always held a great passion for working with children and have shown this interest through nannying for families with everything from newborns to pre-teens. On top of childcare i have done the grocery shopping, cleaning, and pet care responsibilities for many years. I would love to be your nanny for weekend trips away or monthly date nights :)

I have worked with my siblings. One is 8 years old and has special needs and the other is 7. I have been babysitting for about 6 years and was a nanny for 2 of those years. In my nanny experience I would cook and do light cleaning as the family needed. I am a certified Personal Care Assistant and have worked with multiple families each with different types of special needs. I love being active and planning different activities so in my previous experiences I have done well with active children. I have also worked with children who don't like to be as active and I found activities they also enjoyed.

What are some common responsibilities for nannies in Edina, MN?

As a parent, it’s natural for you to ask your nanny for a little extra help around the house. However, the boundaries for a nannies duties vary from person to person. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met. This includes things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active, that they have a healthy diet and a sanitary home. When tasks go beyond child care, for example scrubbing kitchen counters, folding laundry, gathering groceries, or teaching a language, you will likely need to provide additional compensation.

How can I ensure I have a great relationship with my nanny?

To start, it’s important you set expectations and are aligned on compensation from day one. This includes outlining vacation days, a protocol for sick days, and everything else you would want your own employer to cover. From here, spend time getting to know them. Take your nanny out one of Edina’s great restaurants, learn about their childhood, and discuss your parenting philosophy. Finally, be sure to resolve conflicts as they arise. Open communication is crucial to ensuring a healthy long-term relationship.
