I am a Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) have a BA in child and family studies with a focus in child life. I have worked for 3 years caring for children with disabilities. I have worked with both elementary aged children and teens during this time. In addition to my direct child care experience I have worked with children and families in hospitals and in the community including an international internship at a children's hospital in Auckland, New Zealand with their Play Specialist Service. Through this and other opportunities I have worked with children of all ages - infants through young adults. I am on the board of directors for a summer camp that I attended as a child and have continued to be a part of as a counselor throughout my teens and early 20's. Personally, I do not have any experience as a nanny. However, I do have experience with babysitting here and there, and volunteering with children. I am 19 years old and for my first year of college, I attended Greensboro College, where we participated in Special Olympics helping kids out. My second year, first semester, I attended Averett University, where we also participated in Special Olympics, as well as tutoring kids after school. At both schools, I played softball. I decided to come home, and attend a local community college due to being a college athlete completely takes a tole on your body and your physical and emotional toll on your mindset. Also going to a private school is no where near cheap, and I do not want to be in debt for the rest of my life. I am not sure what I would like to major in. I know for sure I want to work with kids. I am in between 3 different options. I would either like to be a pediatric oncologist (kids with cancer), A pediatric ER Nurse, or an elementary teacher. I love kids, and have worked well with them my whole life. I am very easy to approach with kids, and listen very well to their wants and needs. I think this would be a wonderful opportunity for me to help grow with the age group I would like to work with when I graduate from college in a several years.
