I have babysat 10 week old baby girl and her 22 month old brother; I did this for 2 months. I have also worked in my church's nursery and toddler rooms along with working with kids that ages ranged from 3 to 12. I love working with children and they seem to like me as well. I have my CPR certification, am finishing up high school and have a little college under my belt as well and am the #1 person that my neighbors called to watch their (at the time) 8, 9, 7, 5 and 3 year old kids when I was only 12. I will cook, clean and do anything else that the parents request while working for them and have no problem doing small or large things around the house (no extra charge, obviously).

My biggest child care job I would have to say was working for Camp Good Days for 2 years during the summer where I took Care of children all different ages. It was a challenge but it also helped me work with every different age group and know how to handle them. I loved every minute of it!

I am a hard working, loving, dedicated nanny who always makes sure that the children that I am responsible for feel safe and comfortable at all times while their parents are not home. I also give the parents a sense of relief that their children are in good hands while we are playing, making crafts, baking, taking walks, riding bikes, reading to the children, and having fun! I take full responsibility for prepping meals for the children, light housekeeping and looking after any pets that the family may have. I enjoy teaching the young children about having responsibilities around the house as well, especially learning polite manners and cleaning up after themselves. I am CPR educated, punctual and I absolutely love working with children. I am available all summer, beginning at the end of June as well as available Monday through Friday during the school year. I also like to keep the parents updated while I'm watching their children with either a text or phone call once in awhile depending on what the parents prefer. Sometimes including a photo of what the kids are up to, which I know that one of the moms that worked for very much appreciated and loved that!

What are some common responsibilities for nannies in Greece, NY?

As a parent, it’s natural for you to ask your nanny for a little extra help around the house. However, the boundaries for a nannies duties vary from person to person. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met. This includes things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active, that they have a healthy diet and a sanitary home. When tasks go beyond child care, for example scrubbing kitchen counters, folding laundry, gathering groceries, or teaching a language, you will likely need to provide additional compensation.

How can I ensure I have a great relationship with my nanny?

To start, it’s important you set expectations and are aligned on compensation from day one. This includes outlining vacation days, a protocol for sick days, and everything else you would want your own employer to cover. From here, spend time getting to know them. Take your nanny out one of Greece’s great restaurants, learn about their childhood, and discuss your parenting philosophy. Finally, be sure to resolve conflicts as they arise. Open communication is crucial to ensuring a healthy long-term relationship.
