Hi families,
We know that choosing a nanny is not easy. We interviewed 9 people through care.com before we found ours (she had 2 other offers - we had to steal her away).

Maryann is an amazing, caring nanny with a BA in childhood development from Pace University. She is originally from White Plains, is certified and has experience working in daycares and is certified in CPR. She is 29, very mature, energetic, drives, cooks and is very responsible, caring and flexible. Maryann speaks Spanish, English and Arabic. She sings and reads to our son and takes him on outings regularly. We couldn’t be happier.

Now, at 10 months, we’d love for him to have some additional interaction with a friend during the week, as well as cut down on costs. Fortunately for us, Maryann is happy to take on two children. Any family would be lucky to have her as their nanny, too.

We look forward to hearing from you and answering any questions that you may have. Hoping that this can be a beneficial arrangement for everyone involved.

Thanks very much!
Best,
The Ingras

What are some common responsibilities for nannies in Hartsdale, NY?

As a parent, it’s natural for you to ask your nanny for a little extra help around the house. However, the boundaries for a nannies duties vary from person to person. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met. This includes things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active, that they have a healthy diet and a sanitary home. When tasks go beyond child care, for example scrubbing kitchen counters, folding laundry, gathering groceries, or teaching a language, you will likely need to provide additional compensation.

How can I ensure I have a great relationship with my nanny?

To start, it’s important you set expectations and are aligned on compensation from day one. This includes outlining vacation days, a protocol for sick days, and everything else you would want your own employer to cover. From here, spend time getting to know them. Take your nanny out one of Hartsdale’s great restaurants, learn about their childhood, and discuss your parenting philosophy. Finally, be sure to resolve conflicts as they arise. Open communication is crucial to ensuring a healthy long-term relationship.
