I've been taking care of kids as a nanny seven years. = Since November 2014 until the end of March 2015, I took care of 3 months old Emerson in East Side Manhattan, doing all that is required to take care of an infant: feeding, naps, bottles, changing him, playing, singing and dancing with him. I also keep a daily log .I can advise, about supplies, kind of bottles, pacifiers, toys, clothes, etc., that are more useful, economic and liked by babies. Emerson started daycare on April 2015.(Reference) = August 2014 till November, took care of 3 months old Maddy. Again, all baby related duties , always including keep her areas and clothes neat. (Reference) = Since July 2013 until June 2014, I took care of my SECOND SET OF TWINS. They were 2 weeks old when I started. I worked 10 hours a day during the week, by myself. I took care of all aspects of their caring during their first year. That included their feeding, sleeping schedule, entertainment, etc. The parents trusted me with the decisions about schedules, changes in them, and the caring in general and I would, communicate and check with them every step. What made possible for me to do this was my experience. By the end of June 2014, as planned, they started daycare. (Reference) = In 2011, I took care of twins for the first time, as a live in nanny in Long Island, since they were 3 month until they were 10 month old (they were on a schedule). I fed them, entertained and put them to sleep by myself. = Since 2008 until 2011, for two years and a half, I worked as a live out Nanny in Midtown Manhattan. I took care of a boy, Max, since he was 8 month old until he was 3 and half years old, but, please for more about my work history check my profile. A FEW IMPORTANT ITEMS: - I'm CPR certified. - I've studied two years of Communications and two of psychology in College back in my country of origin, Uruguay . -I live in Astoria Ditmars. -I don’t spend all the time on my cell. - I'm fluent in English and Spanish. - I don't smoke. - I'm OK with light housekeeping for and around the baby (baby's meal, baby's laundry, bottles, vacuum around baby’s area.). Looking forward to hear from you! And thank you for taking the time to read, Nancy

I am a 27 year old female who is reliable, caring, trustworthy, educated, organized and very active. I have experience working with all ages of children from infants to high school students. I have 3 years teaching experience working at a high school and also used to coach the girls soccer team. I’ve also started and facilitated many after-school programs at our school, including a fitness group and a fundraising committee. I am very passionate about promoting education and learning. I can also cook well and I have a fairly strong knowledge of healthy clean eating. In the past, I've been a nanny for a 7 year old autistic boy who loved going on adventures with me. As the child’s primary caregiver, I was responsible for cooking and serving meals, light housekeeping, and planning fun and engaging outings to parks and local museums. I was also involved in toilet training, bathing, improving literacy skills, and developing positive behaviors. At times, I had to use calming strategies and non-violent intervention techniques when he became aggressive (a behavioral side-effect of his autism). I’ve also worked at multiple daycares and children centers and was responsible for caring for and supporting each child’s individual needs. I was part of creating and maintaining a safe and stimulating environment for the children. Their ages ranged from 6 months - 12 years. I participated in planning and preparing snacks, helping children fall asleep at nap time, playing games and planning educational and fun activities. I always encouraged the children to express themselves by listening to them attentively and responding with questions or comments that extended the conversation and promoted learning. I also supervised the children while we were at the center, at parks, on the walk to school and during field trips. I made sure to communicate daily with parents about their child’s day and answered any questions or concerns they had. Additionally, I've volunteered as a mentor for a 7 year old girl who needed a positive role model in her life. I was her big sister for 3 years until she moved away.

What are some common responsibilities for nannies in New York City, NY?

As a parent, it’s natural for you to ask your nanny for a little extra help around the house. However, the boundaries for a nannies duties vary from person to person. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met. This includes things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active, that they have a healthy diet and a sanitary home. When tasks go beyond child care, for example scrubbing kitchen counters, folding laundry, gathering groceries, or teaching a language, you will likely need to provide additional compensation.

How can I ensure I have a great relationship with my nanny?

To start, it’s important you set expectations and are aligned on compensation from day one. This includes outlining vacation days, a protocol for sick days, and everything else you would want your own employer to cover. From here, spend time getting to know them. Take your nanny out one of New York City’s great restaurants, learn about their childhood, and discuss your parenting philosophy. Finally, be sure to resolve conflicts as they arise. Open communication is crucial to ensuring a healthy long-term relationship.
