I have 6 years of experience babysitting/nannying. I was an Au Pair for two different families in the USA from 2009 to 2012 and I am a nanny from 2013 to present. I am responsible, trustful, and committed person. I love arts and crafts, play outdoors, and engage the children in different kinds of activities.

I have the patience and energy to work with children. I worked with children at the Center where I spent time with a group of about 20 kids ranging between 6 and 8. I encouraged their participation in activities from reading books, to creating games that were designed to encourage teamwork and other important life skills. My most recent babysitting job was taking care of a 9yr old boy who is diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. He and I shared a special connection, and I am still close to the family. I consider housework related to the children my responsibility. This includes cooking healthy meals, tidying up the play space, and their bedrooms, and attending to their laundry, all while involving them in the clean up process so they learn about responsibility. I love to do arts and crafts and going on trips to educational sites such as museums and art galleries. My primary focus would be caring for the children, but I am happy to help with odds and ends should you need some extra help.

I have been babysitting neighbors and family friends since I was 11 years old in Flagstaff, Arizona. I became a regular caretaker for many of these families throughout my years before moving away for college and started an after-school music tutoring program when in high school. I would also spend my summers babysitting my 4 younger cousins in Connecticut for a few weeks at a time. Once in college, I continued to take both long-term nanny and babysitting positions and worked in an after-school theater and dance mentorship program. We would tutor elementary school students on their assigned schoolwork while developing plays or dance routines focused on an educational topic over each semester. I worked for various families over my entire college career other than my time studying abroad, while taking short-term referral-based jobs when needed. Work in the after-school program made me as accustomed to working with late elementary/middle-school aged children and I am working with children in their first year. In addition to tutoring and helping families in the past, I regularly babysat 2 little girls (7 and 9 years old now) for one family, and a little boy (13 now) of another in my home. After moving to Manhattan in 2008 for college, I found 3 families in New York I then helped regularly: for a little boy who was 6 months old when I started watching him, and is now 6, for a 6 and 8 year old boy who are now 9 and 11, and another 3 year old boy for a few years. I also took different jobs for their friends and through babysitting agencies before studying abroad and have continued to help when needed in the past couple years.

Dear family, I am 25 years old. I've lived almost 3 years in the USA as an Au Pair/Nanny. I love children, and I've been working with children since a very young age. From 2009 to 2011 I took care of 2 beautiful children. They were a 2 years old boy and a 3 years old girl when I started, and 5 and 6 when I moved to Brazil last July. We still have a close relationship and keep in touch as much as we can. I used to do everything and anything for them and with them. I would spend all day long with them (from around 6AM to 5PM - when their parents arrived from work) playing, feeding, doing projects/crafts, learning time (letters, numbers, writing), given baths, taking to play dates, library, school, and many others. I was like part of the family, and although they gave me all the space in the world to discover that new culture and new place, we would spend a lot of time together as a family. Later on in the end of 2011 I started working for a family in Lloyd Harbor/Cold Spring Harbor, NY where I took care of a 4 years and 12 years old girls. Their mother is a stay at home mom, so we would do everything together - Me, mom, and kids. My duties with the kids included: getting them ready for school, driving them everyday, taking to external activities, taking to doctor, giving medicine, baths, some nights putting to bed. As well as taking care of the kids I assisted the parents in what they would need, for instance: Errands (bank, pharmacy, supermarket, cleaners, cars revisions), taking care of the dogs (taking to the vet, making sure they are fed and healthy). I also keep in touch with them as much as we can, and I'm so grateful for the great opportunity and time I've had with them. Before I moved to the US, I had been a ballet dance teacher for over 4 years for girls from 2 to 12 years of age. In addition, I worked in an orphanage assisting in the cafeteria. I used to assist boys and girls from 4 to 11 years old. What a great time I had there! I'm pretty confortable with all ages. My latest job was as an English Teacher in Brazil, where I mostly thought adults executives. I alsoI had a private student who is 2 and a half years old. I also had groups of kids and teenagers. I'm fluent in English and Portuguese. I will do the best of me to get to know your family, and be a loving influence on your children. Thank you for your time and consideration, and I look forward to hear from you soon. Sincerely, Thali

Dear family, My name is Carmen and I have 43 years I am from the city of Cusco, Peru. I have been living in he U.S. for 8 years. specifically in Washington DC. I am married and I live with my husband in New York, although in Peru, my home town, my children are still living there. And they are already married and with the own families. Also I am a very happy and optimistic, while I have several qualities that make me a good nanny, for example I have a lot of creativity, I like being involved in games with the kids, I like that they will be always there happy and safe. But I can also say "no" and make children follow the rules. (In the event that any naughty child ) I am in support of health, I'm a great cooker, keep a positive attitude with respect to food that must have children. I like children to enjoy nature, and if time permits I do not hesitate picnicking, swimming or just go to the Playground. I have worked as a nanny for over 30 years, in which the last eight years I have worked in the United States. I care children from newborn to 15 years. I have a long experience in the care of babies. I care from babies twins, to a family of 4 children. I have the ability to handle situations with more than one child. In the last four years I have worked with a family of 2 children, the little I cared since birth, the child today will be 4 years old and his sister 6 years. I've always had very good relationship with all families, so I have letters of recommendation that support my experience. Not only have I been in the care of children, if not, I have also carried out maintenance work on the house. (Housekeeping) One of the reasons for seeking employment is that I move out of state, and I can not continue with the same family. Action that makes me very sad for you really consider them my family. One of my concerns is that to me,is a little difficult to speak and understand English, because although I have worked in the U.S. for these years, I have always been speaking Spaniards familes. But for a few months I worked with an American family, and we got understand each other. I will start going to school in September of this year. I am looking forward to talk to you. Best regards Carmen

I am a single mother with 2 daughters (3 and 5 years old) and a wonderful nanny who has been with us for 2 years. My daughters will be in school full-time starting this Fall 2018 and we are looking for a great family to arrange a nanny-share with. Our nanny will be available Tuesdays - Fridays from 8:30am - 2:30pm. Starting at 2:30pm, my nanny will be picking up my daughters from school. Ideally, we are looking for a family who needs one-on-one care from 8:30am - 2:30pm and then is willing to have our nanny care for all children from 2:30pm until the evening. My nanny stays with us until about 7:30pm in the evening Tuesday - Friday. We are not in need of childcare on Mondays except for when my children do not have school. Below is the general schedule that we expect to start this Fall 2018:
Monday - Nanny available for one-on-one care from 8:30am - 1pm
Tuesday through Friday - Nanny available for one-on-one care from 8:30am - 2:30pm. From 2:30-7:30pm, nanny available to care for all children from both families.
Our family has tons of friends in our neighborhood and in our building. We value social interactions, outdoor play, kindness, cleanliness and fun. We hope to find a great family!

My daughter will be 5 months old when we want to start the nanny share just after July 4th. We have lived in Central Harlem for 6 years and are both designers.

Sandra is great! As I was referred to her by a close friend of mine who had Sandra as her nanny for her son from 3 months through 2 years. I was working with her when she hired Sandra and I remember her raving about her then as well. Sandra has been a nanny all her life and loves kids. She has twin boys and a girl who are all grown adults now. She has a background in early childhood development and continues to take classes to keep up with what's current.

Sandra requires a 40 hour week but at the moment my husband and I only need 3 days a week through the end of this year. Currently we would like to have her Tues, Weds, and Thurs so the family we are looking to share with would share Sandra Mondays and Fridays but our Monday can be flexible and swapped for any of the other three days. She's on the books and charges $17/hour. If for whatever reason the family we share her with is not able to continue then it would be the responsibility of that family to find a replacement family as it would effect her hours and income.

Our awesome, loving, attentive nanny Carla currently cares for our (Almost) 2 year old son along with another little girl (also 2). The share has worked out so well and the kids adore each other but the other family is moving to Brooklyn for a bigger space and we are searching for a new family for our share.
Carla takes the kids to classes and to the park. She prepares meals and snacks for them and teaches them everything (letters, numbers, how to share;).
She gets right down in the kids level, playing with them, coloring, reading, singing, she is very engaged. The kids love her and so do we!
Currently the share is at our apartment on 11th street and 4th ave. The closer you live the easier it will be.
We would like someone to start August but the start date is flexible.

What are some common responsibilities for nannies in New York, NY?

As a parent, it’s natural for you to ask your nanny for a little extra help around the house. However, the boundaries for a nannies duties vary from person to person.
