Hi, my name is Maria, I'm from the Dominican Republic. I study English as second language at International House and Dorcas international in Providence. I live in Foster, Rhode Island. I have worked several years as a babysitter. I have taken care of babies from 6 months to 7+ years old, and in my last job, I cared for lovely twins, who enjoyed outside activities and building with LEGO and play-doh, puzzles, chess, crafts and painting etc. I have studied clinical psychology in college, but I have not yet finished my degree. I got my certificate in Adult/Pediatric CPR/First Aid/ AED recently. I can teach your children Spanish if you like.
I really love taking care of children. It is a fantastic job, and I hope to meet with nice families and their kids.

thanks

Hello everyone, my name is Jamie. I'm 31 years old, and a mom of two amazing boys. I have worked with kids for as long as I can remember. It has always been a passion of mine, so much that I worked at a very well known daycare and was a Lead teacher, unfortunately my youngest had some medical issues and I had to leave my position. I am CPR certified and also CDA certified. This means I am licensed to work anywhere in the US for the next three years with children ranging from birth to three years of age. I really hope to spark your interest and hear from you. I have a lot of training in curriculum as well as daily learning skills to teach your children. On that note, let's chat! I hope to hear from you soon- Jamie

7 years (off and on) with a family I watched the twins for. Since they were newborns, changed diapers, fed, played with. As they got older I would watch them while their mother went to school or to her son's sports events since the twins get very antsy and never liked attending. 3 years with another set of 8 year old twins who had autism. I would help them with homework and meal prep. I did light house cleaning. I would also play games and do specific activities to help with motor skills and speech. 3 years (off and on) with a former teacher and her family watching her two kids ages 4 and 7. I still help this family with date nights and I watch the dogs and the house when the family goes on vacation. 2 years with a family with a 5 year old little girl. I absolutely fell in love with this job. I would get there in the morning, wake her up, make breakfast, get her ready for school and for the first year I drove her to school and then she started kindergarten and I would get her on the bus. It was one of the best connections I've made with a child.

What are some common responsibilities for nannies in Foster, RI?

As a parent, it’s natural for you to ask your nanny for a little extra help around the house. However, the boundaries for a nannies duties vary from person to person. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met. This includes things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active, that they have a healthy diet and a sanitary home. When tasks go beyond child care, for example scrubbing kitchen counters, folding laundry, gathering groceries, or teaching a language, you will likely need to provide additional compensation.

How can I ensure I have a great relationship with my nanny?

To start, it’s important you set expectations and are aligned on compensation from day one. This includes outlining vacation days, a protocol for sick days, and everything else you would want your own employer to cover. From here, spend time getting to know them. Take your nanny out one of Foster’s great restaurants, learn about their childhood, and discuss your parenting philosophy. Finally, be sure to resolve conflicts as they arise. Open communication is crucial to ensuring a healthy long-term relationship.
