I'm 24-years-old. My first language is French. I am a graduate from Christ for the Nations Institute and I'm now studying Computer Science at Dallas Baptist University. I really don't see babysitting as a job, I just love kids. I love to look after them, be their friend and care for them. I chose babysitting to have the chance to experience this every single day, impact the lives of the kids positively and be impacted by them as well. I love looking after kids, I've been doing that since I can remember. I got almost all of my experience in my parents orphanage. My parents are missionaries in the Ivory Coast, where the language spoken is French, I have a little accent (: Around the age of 14, I volunteered at the orphanage every summer and weekends I was available. I loved doing it. I was responsible of a certain number of kids everyday. Responsible for clothing them, feeding them, entertaining them, and more. It was amazing. After a couple of years, I started babysitting for different families on weekends. When I got into college, I first worked in the children's ministry of my college for my first year. It was a Christian College. I am blessed with a voice, so I use to make up singing games for the kids, they really liked them. The summer of that year, I volunteered for a summer camp and I was a counselor. I then transferred to Dallas Baptist University to study computer Science. I got a part time nanny job, in North Dallas, with a single mother and her 2 kids; a girl (11) and a boy (8). The little boy had ADHD. They were so kind and amazing. I picked up the kids from school, helped them with their homework, and entertained them until the parent came home. They were a wonderful family. I worked for them for one year. The only reason why I left this family is because I had more expenses coming and I needed more hours and she could not give. I still babysit on some weekends for them. During that summer, I worked for a family of 4, a girl (8) and a boy (5). It was a fun summer. I had a schedule of different activities everyday of the week like going to the park, swimming, going to the movies, cooking... This school year, I started working with the family I'm nannying for now. They are also a family of 4, 2 girls (7&11) and they live in North Dallas. I love them, those little girls give me new experiences everyday. It is a part-time job, I pick them up form school and drive them to their after school activities.

I have been babysitting for family for as long as I could remember. When I went away to college, I began working at our church’s nursery. Working in the infant room three to four days a week allowed me to become close to families and start to baby sit for them on a weekly basis. Most of the families had either two or three children ranging from the ages of three weeks to about five years old. There are also times where two families would go out and I would care for all six children. Also one time another family of two joined and I took care of eight children. My degree is in Family and Child Development, and it’s helped me come to understand children more than I recently had. The past six summers, I worked at a Christian Day Camp in Silver Spring, Maryland with the ages of Pre-k (4) and Kindergarten (5-6). I was a counselor for two years with a group of 8-10 children let I my care. We did plenty of activities on camp grounds and went to public pools twice a week. The next two summers, I was a head counselor having to keep up with five counselors, who in total had about 90 children. Keeping up with everyone in public areas and making sure things ran smoothly were just a few things that I was responsible. Finally in the last two summers i worked at Camp, 09-10 I was placed over the Discovery, Prek and K Program as the Coordinator over 155 children. It was definitely a joy to make sure the parents, staff and children were well catered to and taken care of. I am now living with a family in Va. I have know this family for approximately 3 years and have watched their children on many occasions. Whether the parents were out of town, or i accompanied them on a vacation/business trip I have spent a lot of time loving this family and living with them is just a plus. They have four children ages 5 months- 6 years old. I love seeing the kids grow up and see me as part of the family.

I was most recently a nanny for a family in the Dallas area from May, 2012 – July, 2014 who have 1 daughter. When I started she was 3 months old. She is amazing, fun, simple, honest and a true blessing to all who come in contact with her. I loved being a part of her daily routine for the past two years… watching her learn about the world around her, seeing her reach milestones, and the joy she gets from discovering new things every day. As a toddler, I have loved creative as well as focused play with her. I also enjoy reading books, outings, and especially seeing her gain knowledge, and especially when the "little light" comes on and I see the excitement in her face, when they finally "get it." I was responsible for maintaining her weekly routine which was set by both her parents and me and included weekly swim lessons, art classes at the museum, gymnastics, music, and various trips to places like the arboretum, the zoo, etc. Prior to working with this family I worked part time for another Dallas family with two children ages 9 and 11. As a private child care provider I possess effective communication, multi-tasking, interpersonal and time management skills. I am flexible to different situations and always pride myself on supervising and maintaining a safe environment.

Hi! My name is Maggie. I'm an active and outgoing 28-year-old. I've been a nanny for 9 years and it has been a rewarding and exciting adventure so far. I have been a nanny for 5 different families with children ages newborn-5. I am currently in the search for a new family. The saddest part of my job: babies grow up, and I'm not needed anymore! I would consider myself to be a calm, patient, reliable, firm person while still allowing for silly fun, imaginative play, even organized chaos! I do believe in structure and routine. I believe those are amazing gifts you give yourself and your child. I strive to create a nurturing, stimulating and safe environment for your child so they can learn, experiment, and grow the way each child should! I will give you some insight as to what my day's look like as a nanny: I write daily logs, which include: Feeding times, changing times, naps, activities, medication, and any special notes for the parents. I prepare a healthy breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the child(ren) with food provided by the parents. I strive to teach age appropriate developmental skills and fine motor skills. I ensure a proper nap/sleep schedule- since sleep is a very important factor in a child's day. I ensure household maintenance, which includes daily cleaning of living areas to provide a healthy and proper living space for the child(ren) and will do light laundry; children's laundry and household towels, kitchen towels, Etc. I run errands for the parents/ pick-up/drop-off at school and any other activities (little gym, swim, soccer, etc.) Weekly outings to museums, aquariums, library, park, etc. I ensure firm guidance and encourage speech and personality development All play-time is supervised and the child(ren) will never be left unattended. But I do encourage quiet/independent play for a small time during the day. I organize the schedule according to the parents request and follow all of the household rules. And most importantly, I will give your child nothing but the best care and all the love and attention children need and deserve. I am an extremely reliable and dependable person. I have a safe vehicle (2011 Honda pilot), with a clean driving record. I am CPR certified and highly experienced with newborns. I am looking for a family that needs someone full-time. Minimum of 40 hours, and I'm willing to work 50. My preference would be a family with younger children who could commit to a nanny for a min. of a year.

What are some common responsibilities for nannies in Dallas, FL?

As a parent, it’s natural for you to ask your nanny for a little extra help around the house. However, the boundaries for a nannies duties vary from person to person. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met. This includes things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active, that they have a healthy diet and a sanitary home. When tasks go beyond child care, for example scrubbing kitchen counters, folding laundry, gathering groceries, or teaching a language, you will likely need to provide additional compensation.

How can I ensure I have a great relationship with my nanny?

To start, it’s important you set expectations and are aligned on compensation from day one. This includes outlining vacation days, a protocol for sick days, and everything else you would want your own employer to cover. From here, spend time getting to know them. Take your nanny out one of Dallas’s great restaurants, learn about their childhood, and discuss your parenting philosophy. Finally, be sure to resolve conflicts as they arise. Open communication is crucial to ensuring a healthy long-term relationship.
