As a young adult I had full custody of my younger sister. Shortly after I married and had two girls of my own. To be home and available to them I attended Old Dominion University where I received a BA of Science in Elementary Education. I taught school for 12 years. I know that the search to find a nanny is a daunting task. Good parents are utterly aware that they must find a nanny that is the most suitable to be in charge of their children. My current position will be ending soon. i have been with this family of four children for 3 years now and will be very sad when it ends. my two previous positions were on Long Island and Connecticut. My daughters were raised and live in Norfolk and I came back to be close to them and my new granddaughter. My name is Abigail and I am 56 years old. I have two daughters, Kelly Marie 28and Sarah Peyton 27. I am a former Middle School Teacher with additional training for the younger child. I also have had a number of interesting jobs which you will see if you get as far as my resume. If we never meet I wish you luck in your search for your perfect Nanny. Sincerely, Abigail

This will be my third summer as a nanny. One year I cared for an 8-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl. Because they were older, I was mostly there to keep the peace in the house, feed them, take them to friends’ houses or the pool, and take them to sports practices. The second year I cared for 3-year-old and 5-year-old boys. I got them up and dressed in the morning, fed them, potty trained the 3 year old, helped the 5-year-old learn how to ride a bike, took them to the pool and helped them swim, took them to swim and golf lessons, took them to museums and to the aquarium, the boys had daily workbooks that I helped them through, and frequently stayed later then the usual time so that the parents could have date nights. Last summer, for about a month, I left my full time nanny job to go to another family’s house to watch 2 out of the three kids while their mom took the third to practice every night. Her husband is military and he was deployed at the time. She needed those 2-3 hours to be able to take the oldest to his football practice and have some time for herself instead of worrying about the two younger kids (ages 2 and 4).

Nicole’s Bio I have worked at the same place as a nanny for the past three years and to date have 4 years of nanny experience. I have extensive experience caring at all stages of development from newborns and infants, toddlers, to elementary school age children. I have extensive experience scheduling and organizing daily activities and outings, creating arts and crafts projects, meal preparation, homework assistance, bathing, housecleaning, grocery shopping, transporting, and overall maintaining and managing childcare and all aspects inclusive of childcare. I have experience in caring for multiples (twins/triplets). I have taken care of children with special needs and with allergies. I have CPR and first aid training experience. I started babysitting at the age of 12 and have always loved children. I knew as a kid myself that I wanted to be connected with children; to enjoy their presence, and incorporate my love for kids in a professional environment. I believe it's imperative that children have stability and nurturing in their lives. I believe in positive reinforcement, using a calm voice while being firm simultaneously. At 16, I became a counselor in training at community summer camps. I was responsible for the care of up to as many as 15 children at one time, ranging from 2 to 12 years old. I was eventually promoted to counselor and continued this position for a few years. Since 2005, I have been a Sunday School preschool teacher at my local synagogue. As a teacher, I'm responsible for teaching and the safekeeping of my children, ages 3 to 5. I create lesson plans for arts and crafts, games, learning and play time that are suitable for the children. I take pride and remain conscientious in my work. I have CPR and first aid experience offered by my synagogue, where I am a Sunday school preschool teacher. I regularly attend educational workshops that are offered by my synagogue as well. I havemy Associate’s Degree of Applied Science in General Studies. I have taken several educational and early childhood education related courses in the past.

I have been a babysitter since I was 15 years old, and when I was out of college for the summer, I was a full-time Nanny for 4+ years. I have experience with infants (14 wks) all the way through the preteen years. I really love working with babies and toddlers, but I adore all ages! I am very versatile, nurturing, and active when it comes to childcare. I highly value the chance to educate while I am on the job as well. Please reference my response below to the question, "Why do you want to become a Nanny."

Where do I begin! Like almost every teenaged girl I began babysitting when I was about 14 years old. Prior to that I helped care for my 3 younger siblings. I soon became the day care assistant at the church nursery where I fell in love with infant care. My first daycare job I worked with school aged kids. One day I had to go to the nursery to help out because they were short staffed and the owner saw me on the monitor with the babies and later told me that is where she wanted me to stay. Through the next few years I worked as a substitute teacher for the public schools and was a nanny for my now godson who was first just one of my children I cared for in the nursery at my first job. A few years ago I started working with children with autism and fell in love again. I loved all my boys so much and enjoyed watching them develop and overcome some of their challenges.

Childcare has been a huge part of my life. I have been consistently babysitting since I was about 10 and have worked for 7 different families in the US with children of all ages and personalities (I also spent 2 years in Bulgaria working primarily with Gyspy children). I love children and am an intentional babysitter. I like to do things with kids that help them develop their creativity and learn. I am also athletic and enjoy doing active games and being outside with the children whenever possible.
