As I stated before, I have been interested in childcare since I was a child, so I got babysitter certified and took my first CPR and First Aid class when I was thirteen. I started my first full-time nanny job in October of 2002 when I was just seventeen. I worked for a family that had three boys aged 1, 3 and 5. In February of 2004 they had a baby girl and I stayed on caring for these three children until May of 2007. I worked a few jobs over the next year, but none were as satisfying as working with children. In August of 2008 I applied to and was offered a job at The Goddard School as an assistant teacher for children ages 2-3. I absolutely loved this job and the opportunity to work with so many children at once. During this time I got my 90-hour certification in Early Childhood Development and attended many classes pertaining to teaching young children. The next year I moved to Austin, TX and began to nanny for new parents of 6-week-old twins. I was with this family for 5 years until the boys started going to school full-time. After that I took a year off from full-time childcare and did occasional babysitting for another set of toddler twins while also planning my wedding. My husband and I got married last year and now we have moved back to the East Coast to be closer to my family. I am hoping to find a new family to work with for full-time childcare for at least one, but preferably several years. If you think that I might be a good fit for your family, please send me a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Thank you for your time and good luck on your search for childcare!

I have worked with children in my school year job for 7 years, more details can provide; I have 2 summers 8 weeks as a summer camp director/RecPac camps program/fx county, and the remainder 8 wks as a Swim Camp Counselor. I have Summer Nanny experience for 3 Summers, each had 2 children, (ages from 1 to age 10). We stay in contact still as friends, 2 families have had a regular school yr nanny and they had to go away a summer, but not every summer so i was a fill in. The 3rd had family change event and with their divorce decided to split summer and stay home with their kids, she and I are personal friends now. Each family I participated in their sport events, swimming, places of interest, all kinds of fun, puppet shows, petting zoo, finding many parks, in MD and VA to explore, I can find and do anything the children and parents can desire. Cleaning, cooking, and children's laundry. Closet and drawers organized clothes purged and seasonal change overs.

I am reliable, friendly, and energetic and patient 20 year old college student. I absolutely adore children which is why I've had extensive experience in childcare (8 years). I have been babysitting since I was 12 - late night, regular jobs 3-4 times a week, up to 12 hours at a time. I've sat for up to 5 children at a time, ages ranging from 6 months - 11 years. I've also been a summer nanny to three different families. This past summer, I was a nanny to three boys ages 4, 7, and 9 - quite the experience! I had a wonderful summer with them. Our days involved afternoons at the pool, productive and fun indoor/outdoor activities (sports, arts and crafts) special trips I would plan ahead of time such as visits to the Air and Space Museum or Frying Pan Park, playdates, concerts at Reston Town Center or Jammin Java, etc. I also worked closely with their summer tutor and did various reading and math exercises to reinforce the skills they learned in school. My approach to childcare has proven to be very successful and promotes fun, education, discipline, self-empowerment and growth.

What are some common responsibilities for nannies in Reston, VA?

As a parent, it’s natural for you to ask your nanny for a little extra help around the house. However, the boundaries for a nannies duties vary from person to person. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met. This includes things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active, that they have a healthy diet and a sanitary home.
