When I turned the age of eighteen I applied for a pre-school position and got the job upon two interviews. At first I was a floater so I went where I was needed from the infants up to after-school care. As time passed I became an extra in the three-year-old room for a few months to help. After a few months I became an assistant in the toddler room and head teacher in the summer months. Since employees were leaving I then took up a spot in the infant room where I ended my job with them after a year and a half. Upon leaving my first pre-school I became a nanny for two of my former students who were aged 3 and 4. I was a full-time, live-out nanny who guided them through their lessons as well as taking them to and from activities during the summer. I fully enjoyed being apart of their lives for almost two years time. Once the children I watched went to full-time school I applied to a pre-school and became a teacher for three-year-olds in Dulles, Northern Virginia. I was there for a year and two months. I then became a nanny for a family with seven children aged newborn-sixteen years of age. I watched the infant and toddler full-time and the other five part-time, except for the summer when they are all in my care. I also cooked dinner for the family two days of the week, did laundry, changed bed sheets, and cleaned the kitchen floors. I worked with them for a little over a year and it was the best experience I've had being a nanny. Afterwards, I went back to a pre-school in Brambleton, Virginia where I was the Lead teacher in the 2 year old room. I had 21 kids in my care and it was an adventure each and every day! I left that pre-school because of a hostile working environment. I'm currently working at the pre-school I started at in Leesburg, VA where I have my own class of 2 year olds! I'm looking for another nanny position because I prefer it over working in a school. There are a lot more things that I can do with the children and I love being close with just one family instead of barely knowing most of my students families.

1. I have successfully raised 4 children; the oldest of which is 33; the youngest of which is 20, and in college. We have a very close relationship, and their friends all like me and like to hang out with me. 2.My current childcare experience is in special needs, with a completely physically disabled child, with CP and seizures. I have been with them for about 2 1/2 years. I am exploring having more work, and she is in school. Prior to this, my most recent childcare experience was caring for a just turned 1 yr. old girl, and her recently turned 4year old brother. I have excellent references from this job. I stopped doing this job due to the mom getting pregnant and deciding to work from home. 3. I was a foster parent to a 3 year old girl for a year, through Social Services when my youngest daughter was 3. The girl was 6 months older than my daughter. 4. In the early 80s, when my son was 2 1/2, I took care of a girl 2 months older than he was, as well as him, and her older brother, who was 9. This job was at their home, and was with them for about 1 1/2 years, . After that, I went to work for a nearby family who had four children, ranging in age from 2 1/2 to 6, plus my son. I worked for them for a year, then left to have my daughter. 5. In the later 80s, I took care of 2 children ,from the same family, in my home. The children were a 2 mo. old boy, and a 3 year old girl. They were with me for a couple of years. For awhile, during this time, I also cared for a 2 year old Down's Syndrome boy. Most recently, I cared for a 9 mo. old, and her 3 yr. old brother, for approx. 3 mo., until the mom got pregnant and had to change to work at home.

I have worked with children from different ages for a number of years. When I lived in Arlington I opened my daycare that consisted of 8 children within the ages 1-8. My daycare schedule included a variety of different activities such as reading, playing, going on fieldtrips, etc. My daycare a included meals, so I'm knowledgeable about what foods are age appropriate. I also taught the children Spanish with different resources such as books, tapes, videos, and games.
