I most currently worked as a nanny for a wonderful family in Manhattan. I worked with their children for over two years. Prior to that position I worked as a Teachers Associate in a school for children with severe disabilites such as Autism and Rett's Syndrome. The children I have worked with range in ages from 7-19. After the school day ends I spend my afternoons working in the daycare program with pre-school age children who do not have disabilities. I worked at this facility since May of 2006 and was sad to be leaving as it had been a wonderful experience for me. In the past I have also worked as a nanny, taking care of a 6 month old child. This was a summer position(5/05-9/05) which required 8+ hours a day with the child, facilitating play, walks, mealtimes, baths, changing and also included light housework and cooking. Prior to this summer position, I volunteered as a tutor for high risk adolescents(2004-2006)and as a pee-wee cheerleading coach(2001-2003). These volunteer experiences have helped to shape my views on caring for children and exposed me to many different ages of children and stages of their development. Prior to these experiences I worked as a lifeguard and swim instructor teaching children ages 5-11 various swim techniques.(Summers 2000-2003)
