A little bit about me…

Hi, my name is Jessica I am currently 32 and I have been working with children in some manner since I was in middle school. I am fully vaccinated, plus the booster against Covid-19. I have always connected well with children and babies and enjoy watching them grow and learn. I also really enjoy challenging kids and adding in educational aspects to play, asking children why and how, and taking their knowledge and understanding one step further. I think every child has such great potential and I thoroughly enjoy getting to know every child as individuals and have their needs met. I really enjoy seeing how children's minds work and think there is so much we can learn from children! Some of my activities and hobbies are music, arts and crafts, and school! I have worked with children from newborns through middle school. My most recent family was 2 boys (when leaving) ages 9 and 6! I also have experience with children with special needs including autism, sensory issues and blindness.

A little bit about me…

Hello! I am a mom of 3 incredible older boys. They are my pride and joy. Besides being a mom, I was a preschool teacher for 3 years. I loved it but had to resign when Covid hit and I needed to be home with my boys. Currently, I tutor a couple times a week in the evenings to a 4th grader. I have been CPR certified and know basic first aid. Since I was 13, I have been caring for children in some capacity and being a nanny has always been something I wanted to do. It is truly amazing to be part of child's life and help them learn and discover new things. Children learn best through play, which is why I believe in engaging with your child. Finding new ways to stimulate their imagination is so much fun. With babies, they need love and a set routine to thrive. Babies are so full of wonder and it is such a joy to witness it. My goal in becoming your nanny is to help where you need me and care for your little one as if they were my own. So excited to meet your family!

A little bit about me…

Hi my name is Meghan and I am a senior in college graduating in the spring of 2022 with one class to take remotely over the summer. I am looking for a summer nanny position. As a caring and energetic person, with 5 years of nanny experience, I would be a great addition to your team. I enjoy helping children with reading and creating creative art projects. Daily adventures and outings are a great way to keep the kids engaged and learning new things. I have worked for two nanny agencies as well as privately. I currently care for my marketing professor’s 5-year-old twin girls. I have played varsity soccer and basketball and hope to share my love of the sports with the children. I am very responsible, am always on time and focus on the safety of the children all while having fun. I am graduating in April with my B.S. in Business Administration, but I have a remote class to finish this summer so am looking for a summer nanny job.

A little bit about us…

Hi! We just started a nanny share and are looking for someone to care for our two sweet baby girls (7 and 5 months). We are located in Edmonds. Both families are easygoing, fun-loving, outgoing & have a transparent communication style. We are ideally looking for someone long-term who can be a big part of our girls lives and feel a part of our families.

We are looking for a start date of April 1st. However, we are in a bit of a unique situation where one family wants to start mid-May/June 1st so we are looking for a little flexibility in the next few months. Ideally, we would start April 1st with 3 days a week then in mid-May/June move to the full nanny share rate + schedule of 4 days/week (32 hours total).

We are looking for a nanny share rate of ~$32 /hour DOE. If you are interested we would love to set up a phone chat to discuss more details to see if we are a good fit!

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Edmonds, WA

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Edmonds Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Edmonds? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Edmonds?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in WA? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.

Daycare vs. Hiring a Nanny

Choosing between putting your child in daycare and hiring a nanny can be a tough decision. While nannies are often more expensive, they provide individualized attention and flexibility. Daycares, on the other hand, prioritize socialization. Our Nanny vs Daycare guide can help you determine what's best for your family.
