Full-Time Available Nanny Atticus in Portland, OR

A little bit about me…Hi there! My name is Atticus and I am a trans masc nonbinary childcare provider! My pronouns are they/them. I am an experienced teacher looking for a more one on one nanny job! I have worked with up to 12 infants at a time with one other teacher. I moved to portland in 2019 to dapple in the food industry, but have decided to return to childcare as the world changes with COVID. I decided to make this change because I imagine finding a safe childcare provider during the pandemic is hard, and I want to assist children and folks during this scary time. So, I am vaccinated and promise to be masked during my time with you and your child. I request you to be masked as well during our time together, too. I am socially locked down and very covid cautious! I am also free to start ASAP. It’s really important to me to know your child’s needs and have ongoing conversations about whatever’s needed. I look forward to meeting you!!!

I had the pleasure of working with Atticus while we were teaching assistants at the Green Bean Day School. Atticus has such a warm, collected and compassionate tone, watching them interact with children was always so pleasant. Atticus is knowledgeable about child development and their unique needs, flexible in their methods and follows the child in their process of learning about life! Atticus will respect your as they are someone who exemplifies and practices what they teach. They share interest and wonder about life, and are capable in sharing the experience of discovery with your child. Atticus showcased excellent responsibility and professionalism while still maintaining their caring nature, I am confident that they will compliment your home beautifully!

More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were…I am an experienced teacher of the Reggio teaching style, I like to implement this knowledge into my childcare practice but have interests in Montessori as well! Overall though, I prefer the unschooling method when it comes to education. I love open ended play!
Activities I enjoy doing with children…As a bread baker, I love to teach through baking, arts and crafts, building, sensory play, quiet time to read and I also admire independent play to see how these little ones observe and use the world on their own :-) i love outdoor time too where we can take in the world around us and interact with new senses.
The most important part about being a nanny…I prioritize uplifting the child's preferred way of learning, and allowing them to lead me in their education. I also love to facilitate that enlightenment and gently help them along the way.
My favorite nanny moment…As a teacher, I remember my mornings being my favorite part of the day. I loved being able to gently enter the day with the child and set the mood for how the day will turn out! This showed me that having extended one on one time is what I prefer, as opposed to classes and high ratios of teachers to children. This was lovely time to get to know the kids before the day took off and got busy :-)
