A little bit about me…I am a fully registered, New Zealand qualified primary teacher. I am passionate about working with young people and I have had the opportunity to engage with youth in a variety of contexts and work experiences for over 10 years.

I have lived in Banff National Park, Canada, since October 2018. temporarily took a break from teaching to expand my own world knowledge and experiences. I am ready to get back into my field & would love to spend some time in the USA! I would be open to positions all over California.

More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were…I am a fully registered, New Zealand trained primary teacher. I spent two and a half years teaching elementary aged students in the public school system in New Zealand. I have volunteered as a youth leader for support groups and camps, and as a day retreat facilitator for Catholic Secondary schools in the Christchurch diocese [phone number hidden]). I also volunteered for two months in Peru, where we provided aid and support for those living in poverty (2012).
I have worked as a private nanny for multiple families (including families with twins and special needs), as an education tutor, and as a residential assistant for five years across two boarding schools. These variety of experiences have given me a strong understanding of educational pastoral care practices and a well rounded approach of how to support young people in their personal development, academic progress, and well-being.
Activities I enjoy doing with children…Arts & crafts, reading, music, walking, skiing, swimming, sports. I have taught across all curriculum areas.
The most important part about being a nanny…My classroom is an inclusive environment, where developing positive growth mindsets and strengthening Hauora (well-being) are key. I am firm but fair and believe a common set of values help to support students during the often difficult time of adolescence.
My experience with special needs children…I have experience teaching children with a wide range of special needs. I practiced a reflective approach to teaching children with specific learning difficulties, tailoring the curriculum to their individual needs as learners. I was also responsible for organising and implementing a weekly group activity for girls who needed extra social support.
