Relevant experience where I also cared for children were…Being involved in watching over young children and babies at at a young age, I have always enjoyed the care. I started formally babysitting in 8th grade, two toddlers after school. I had more clients passed on from my older sister who also babysat as well. I continued watching over children throughout high school; before and after class. I was also a teachers aide at my catholic church and helped the children around 2nd grade. I would help the teacher while aiding the kids, which i really enjoyed.
Activities I enjoy doing with children…I was a gymnast as a toddler, and was known for being pretty hyper. I also was extremely fearless and wanted to climb up every tree, every pole, every rock wall. I would do it so often, it became quite dangerous for me but I surprisingly have this growing fear of heights and don't know how I did it.
Anyways, I played basketball from 4th grade up until high school, and even got the chance to play alongside my sister my sophomore year when I had finally made the varsity team. I also made team captain my senior year. However, if I hadn't played basketball I would have carried out gymnastics or gave volleyball a shot.
The most important part about being a nanny…Is having safe fun with your kids! Depending on who they are, how they live and how their parents instruct me, I really think being easily instructed by the parental guidelines while still making them feel comfortable and happy is the most important trait to have.
My experience with special needs children…Throughout high school - all four years - I participated in the special Olympics at our high school. The Leadership Class would set up a fun filled day where we play fun games and activities, converse with the parents, and after served a large barbecue on the field and give out personalized shirts made by the students in the Leadership Club.
My favorite nanny moment…My favorite nanny moment is when I was was with Samina, this 2 y/o cutest baby girl learning how to walk, I put her sunblock on her and we went on a mission to her backyard. I put her pink bucket-hat on and her pink slip-on shoes and we opened the big sliding door. She looks, and I follow around as she leads me to the side of her house by these raspberry bushes. These plants were about Samina's height. I was nervous she would fall right in and scratch herself up. She pulls me in close to one with pink berries. As I look at the tiny little things Samina reaches in and picks one right off the branch with her tiny little hands and shoves is right into her mouth.
I call her mother immediately and tell her Samina had accidentally eaten the berries by their house, and she replies oh no worries we do that with her all the time and my worry was instantly relieved.
