Relevant experience where I also cared for children were…I have been a pre-K educator for 6 years, served as a creative writing/theater teacher for students 6-18 for 2 years and have been an in-home childcare provider to my students since 2014.
Activities I enjoy doing with children…I love to build up a child's sense of self-confidence with creative play like singing songs, following a map through a museum we haven't been to before or writing our own stories. And outdoor activities like swimming, hiking and biking have always encouraged the children I care for to explore, stay active and try something new!
The most important part about being a nanny…Helping the children I care for and their families feel safe, understood and confident.
My experience with special needs children…I'm fluent in ASL and have 7 years experience caring for children whose primary communication is non-verbal, have low motor function, seizures and/or cerebral palsy, and am very familiar with medicine administration. I am also trained in child social-emotional development and have 5 years experience working with children with anxiety, difficulty with emotion regulation and ADHD.
My favorite nanny moment…Teaching a child who was particularly disinterested in having fun outside how to roller skate for the first time. We finally found the outdoor activity she loved!
