I’m a nanny because I truly love being around children. It allows me to be like a mommy without the financial responsibility. Children are precious gifts from God. They are a lot of work, but they are also lots of fun. It is very rewarding working with them and watching them grow up. I think that children keep you young at heart. My son had a nanny so I know the important role a nanny plays in a child's life. I know what a parent wants in a caregiver. A parent wants someone who will care for his/her child like he/she would. This is excatly what I do. My primary goal is the child's safety and happiness.

My past childcare experience 10-1-11 to present- I took care of a newborn full time (Mon - Fri) until he was approximately 28 months old at which time he enrolled in daycare as his father wanted him to interact with other toddlers. He is now almost 4. I still take care of him 2 - 3 times a month. He spends the night at my house, and gets confused and calls me "mommy". He calls my mother "Nana". We read stories; review letters, colors and animals; watch children's tv (Super Y and Caillou); swim; play ball and tag. We play educational games on the Ipad; and go on long walks. We spend a lot of time talking because he's very inquisitive. When he gets sleepy he climbs in my arms and I rock him to sleep like I did when he was a baby. He knows how to call me from his mommy's phone, and calls me frequently to chat and ask if he can spend the night. 1-15-14 to 7-23-15 - I took care of 2 siblings until they moved to Atlanta. The brother is now 9 and has Asbergers. The sister is 6 and is a genius. They call me "auntie". Both children required a lot of attention. I took them to and from school. We played indoor games (Candyland and UNO) and video games (Sonic, Spiderman and Disney Universe). We read; watched children's tv (Doc McStuffins and Peppa Pig); colored; painted; danced and made pretend food with Play Doh. We played silly tag games outside and swam. We stay iun touch via face time.

Additional comments My childcare philosophy is simple - I treat other people's children as if they are mine. I shower them with affection, but I'm also firm. I expect respect, and I, in turn, respect the children. I don't believe in hitting children. I dont hit mine. It sends the wrong message and is ineffective. It is important for an adult to actively listen to children of all ages and provide positive feedback. It's also important to talk to infants. They are not little blobs. They are little people, and that's how I treat them. I talk to them. I interact with them.
