I’m a nanny because I have a true passion of caring for children and promoting their overall growth and development.I am an enthusiastic and motivated educator and caregiver having the zeal to enhance the social, physical, intellectual, well-being of children with proven expertise in childcare, formulating plans for the overall development of children, preparing nutrition programs and organizing special outings/events for children to extend teachable moments and allow the children to learn from hands on experiences.

My past childcare experience I have had several years of experience working with children of various ages, from birth to school aged children. I have also completed my associate's degree in Early Childhood Education. While obtaining my degree, I had an outstanding experience student teaching in a Preschool classroom while I perfected the ability to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities covering a multiple of learning areas. I was a live in nanny for a family in Long Grove for 5 and half years, responsible for the care of two young boys. In addition to arranging play dates, preparing lunches, planning outings, and selecting extracurricular activities, I also developed and implemented a thematic curriculum, for the children I cared for, that involved a variety of developmentally appropriate activities based on our current weekly theme. I do prefer home based care over being in a classroom environment. I feel that it is beneficial for children to receive one on one attention, yet still grow socially with their peers. I do have ownership of a vehicle and am very comfortable driving with children, if needed. I do have my CPR and First Aid certifications that I renew on a yearly basis.

Additional comments To Whom It May Concern: This letter provides me the opportunity to recommend our primary caregiver to our children, Katie , for a position in your program’s educational system. Katie came to us upon finishing her position as a full time Infant Room Teacher and began as our full time caregiver to our two boys age 8 weeks and 2 ½ years in January of 2004. Every year Katie’s performance has exceeded expectations and has earned carte blanche trust from our family. She has remained dedicated to her pursuit of her Bachelor’s Degree in Education; our family wholeheartedly supports Katie’s educational goals. She is invaluable to us and we are proud to support her career pursuits. She has gone beyond the basics of teaching the children. She transcends beyond how to dress. Katie creates lesson plans for both of the boys through out the year. She sets goals for the children in the areas of reading and writing. She comes up with her own suggestions on activities the children should be involved in. It is often remarked how academically advanced the children are by their own teachers. She does more than just take the boys to Spanish; she helps reinforce the teaching in our home. It is Katie who has taught them how to tie their shoes, swim, read, write, draw, cut with scissors, sort out issues with friends and handle their frustrations and they have the most excellent of manners. (It does sadden me that it is not me, but I am proud that it is her who has done these things with them). Even though I am not there during the day, Katie even takes time to think of me. She sends pictures and videos of the children partaking in different activities and keeps me up to date on all manners. On a very personal note, the boys are from another marriage and Katie plays an instrumental role of balance between me and their father. Katie is the children’s confidant if they are struggling with transitions between homes, she always there to support any of their needs. Katie is the decision maker when it comes to deciding which parent receives what art and school work. (That may seem silly, but people are people). Katie keeps both of us informed regarding school events, birthdays to attend and parent teacher conferences. Katie is the go between when the children transition homes. This eliminates emotional leakage from either parent and provides the boys with a very “emotionally safe environment”. This part of Katie’s job requires a commitment beyond that of what most caregivers provide. Katie is often the sense of reason and is constantly working from a point of view of what is best for the children, regardless of how either one of us as divorced parents feel. This is an example of her maturity and self- confidence. She is active in our community and has a reputation of reliability and trustworthiness. She interacts daily with the teachers and focuses on the areas the children need to improve in. She creatively engages all their senses through play and interaction. Beyond manners and brushing their teeth, Katie designs home curriculum to be about human nature, confidence, and pride. She uses all of her teaching material to do creative art projects with the boys frequently. She engages the children in the community and has created a strong circle of friends for the children. Routinely, I am approached regarding how lucky I am to have found Katie. She is the most patient and endearing person I know. Our family includes her- we value everything she has brought to our home. Katie has incredible character. She is dedicated and reliable. She is fiscally responsible and teaches responsibility to our children. I can not emphasize how dedicated and committed Katie is without sharing this example. Due to my work, our family suddenly found itself transplanted to Florida. Katie left her friends, her own family and her schooling to move with us. She put her life on hold and made certain the children were supported during the move. Katie was also responsible of traveling back and forth with them so they could visit their father in Illinois. Katie is rightly seeking growth and we want to see her succeed in whatever she has set her mind to. So, it is only natural that we commend her for her pursuits and support in life. It is only right as she has supported us for the last five years. Bright, dedicated and skilled, Katie garners my unequivocal recommendation. She is ready and fully prepared to assume the duties in your Educational facility. Warmest Regards, Brenda
