Morgan, a Nanny for Hire in Durango, CO 81301
I’m a professional nanny with a passion for child development and over 12 years experience caring for children, from infants to adolescents. I have the ability to create a positive and educational environment for children that advance and enhance their physical, cognitive, social, emotional, and developmental learning skills.
I’ve been babysitting since the age of 12 for family and neighbors. My mother had my little sister when I was in the sixth grade and I was constantly helping my parents out, while learning all about the needs of an infant and toddler. I also worked for a daycare at the age of 17, which specialized in caring for children with special needs.
Under the direction of Dr., I learned so much about caring for children, ages 2-12, that had ADD, ADHD, Bipolar disorder, Autism, and other special needs. The job was challenging and stressful, with children having unimaginable melt-downs and sometimes even fighting the other children and staff, but I learned a great deal of patience and empathy from those experiences. While working at the daycare, I began to realize what I loved most about the job was the one-on-one time that I got to spend with the children and I decided that the perfect job for me was to be a nanny.
I found the perfect family with 18 month old twins that I worked for throughout college and I definitely perfected my time-management skills during those years. Some of the courses I completed in college are…
o Enhancing Infant and Toddler Development
o Children’s Literature
o Marriage and the Family
o Sociology
o Psychology
I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature in May 2006 from Arizona State University with a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.92. Throughout my coursework, I developed my critical and analytical thinking skills, a deeper appreciation for literature and history, and an understanding of child development.
Since graduating, I've been working for a really special family who has an adorable 14 month old daughter.
Overall, I’m a very loving, patient, and high-energy person who loves engaging children in all kinds of activities. I’m quick-thinking, resourceful, and creative when it comes to handling the daily emotions children often go through. I love to cook and even attended a cooking program at a vocational school while I was in high school. I love to travel and am experienced with booking flight, hotel, and activities for vacations. I have excellent Internet, research, and computer skills. I’m also extremely organized, punctual, and professional. While my number one concern will always be the child’s well-being and care, I can also assist the parents in other errands or duties they may need taken care of.
