I’m a nanny because Through my varied experiences ranging from a math teacher in an inner New York City school to my first job as a nursery worker at my church, I have learned that teaching is my passion. As you can see from my resume, I have just finished my Peace Corps service as a teacher of English as a foreign language in Ukraine. While I have enjoyed working with students of all ages, working in Ukraine taught me that my talent is in working with younger students. The joy that children find in learning and in life invigorates me like no other teaching has. I love how kids get excited about the small things in life. And I am excited about sharing my love of reading, music and math with my future family! I like the personal aspect that comes with being a nanny and the opportunity to work with my family on a one-to-one basis.
My past childcare experience I have 7 and a half years of experience working in the childcare profession. In fact, my very first job was in my church's nursery. I have also worked in a regular nursery school where I worked primarily in the 2 to 3 year old class. That class was filled with very energetic toddlers who would circle around me and loved for me to sing and to hold them. Past childcare experiences also include countless babysitting jobs and a summer as nanny to two wonderful children. I also have a nine year old sister who is constantly attached to my arm or leg whenever I visit my folks. I also have 3 years of experience teaching mathematics in the NYC school system and 1.5 years of experience teaching English as a second language in Ukraine as a Peace Corps volunteer. I currently tutor (and the hours are VERY flexible).
Additional comments First and foremost, I believe that children should always feel loved. My philosophy states that you have to be stern sometimes and loving always. Showering children with affection is the only way I know how to act around children. Secondly, I would like to inform you of the sorts of activities that I enjoy and that would become regularly implemented in my care of your children. My favorite sorts of activities are those of a physical nature such as visits to the park and swimming in the pool (my husband coaches for the Huntsville Swimming Association so you can imagine how important physical activity is to us). I believe that it is important to begin building a healthy lifestyle at an early age. My second favorite activity is reading. There are so many wonderful children's books, and I would like to introduce your children to all of them. Additionally, I feel that children should become familiar with the world of mathematics just as they are made aware of the world of literacy when an adult reads to them. I have a Masters in Math Education and would relish the opportunity to implement different math centered skills into your child’s daily routine. Also, I really enjoy making crafts and making music (I am learning how to play the ukulele). I would love to share these joys of mine with your children. Finally, I would like to thank you for taking the time to read my resume, and I hope that we will talk soon.
