I’m a nanny because I became a nanny almost 12 years ago when the single mother of one of my students (I was an instructional aide in a kindergarten class) needed someone to care for her 5 year old daughter and 8 month old son during odd hours - 1-10PM. She couldn't pay much, but I accepted what little she could offer and I never looked back. This was not a job, but rather a very long (and fun) play date! I have been a child caregiver for almost 12 years now and I realized some time ago, I was meant to do this! Children bring me joy, and I can only hope that when the kids I took care of think of me, they'll remember a caregiver who was fun, loving, and who brought joy to them, too.
My past childcare experience I am a Career Nanny with over 10 years experience. I have worked as a full charge Nanny for 9 years with 5 families, both part time and full time, as well as a Mother's Helper for 1.5 years. I was also an Instructional Aide in a kindergarten class for 5 years. As a full charge Nanny, I do everything mom would do to raise happy, healthy children including: Changing, dressing, bathing and supervising baths (for older children), weaning to formula, preparing bottles, putting infants on a nap and feeding schedule, introducing solid foods, preparing meals, cleaning up after children and myself, and keeping supplies well stocked. I am also excellent at amusing and educating infants and young children with toys, books, songs, games, arts and crafts, and outings. I'm the type of Nanny that gets on the floor and plays games, cars, dolls, Legos, Play-Dough and toys. I like to draw and color with them, I like reading, telling stories, singing, dancing, playing tag, hide and seek, doing arts and crafts, etc. I also know many educational games and learning songs from my experience as an instructional aide. I enjoy taking the kids out for long walks around the neighborhood or to the park, and I love being the one who takes the kids to their activity classes (play and learn, music, sports, etc.). I find them about as much fun as they do! Not only do the children never leave my sight, I tend to shadow them, I don't just sit there and let them explore on their own. And I'm always on notice of my surroundings both outdoors and around the house.
Additional comments I completely understand how difficult it can be for parents to leave their child with someone they met only a short time ago - basically a stranger, so I do my best to reassure every family I will work for and have ever been a nanny or a babysitter to that their children are safe with me. I adore children and have genuine motherly instincts, I am fiercely protective and a natural "worry-wart" (which I think is great when you are a caregiver!). I am ALWAYS alert and the kids NEVER stray too far from me (nor I from them) and I always have my eyes on them. I have no problems with nannycams (I don't blame parents for having them) and I have tons of patience. I am CPR/First Aid certified, I'm Trustline registered and I consent to any additional background checks parents may wish to do on me. Thank you very much.
