I’m a nanny because I love working with children and I am very good at. I enjoy helping them develop the skills that need to grow and become happy and healthy children and adults.

My past childcare experience I am a certified early childhood teacher and whose passion is working with children of all ages. I have worked with children in a school setting from 4 year olds to 12 year olds. This past fall, I have been a long-term sub for 2nd grade and aiding in a 3rd grade classroom in a school in Texas. My student teaching was done primarily in a Pre-K classroom. I have also had many other opportunities to be in the other various age groups as well. I have been babysitting children since I was a pre-teen. I have babysat all ages of children. While I lived in Minnesota, I volunteered to run a childcare program each week for 2 hours for parents attending a class. I had upwards of 10-15 children ranging in age from infants to a 12 year old with most of the children being between the ages of 3-7. I also frequently babysat for a family with 4 children ranging in age from 18 months to an 11 year old.

Additional comments I believe in the inherent dignity and individuality of each child. I strongly believe in reading to children especially at a young age to help them develop a love for reading. I have helped many struggling readers learn to love to read by simply finding books that are on level and are of interest. I also enjoy teaching children to enjoy learning by making it game and not as stressful. I also think it is very important for children to play. Play is part of a child's work and how they learn, especially as a toddler. I enjoy fostering their natural curiosity in a safe environment by providing opportunities for learning, especially outdoors. While I was a long term sub and aide, I implemented Love and Logic in the classroom which had a tremendous effect on my students. It gave them ownership of their decisions and the natural consequences that followed. For example, they worked really hard during the day and we finished early, I let them decide what they wanted to do with that extra time. They could choose to have a "dance break" or be read to from the book we were reading as a class. They enjoyed both of these things. They became happier, more confident, and more responsible. They also began developing problem solving skills which are necessary in today's society. One of my gifts that I have developed is the gift of keeping things organized and tidy and doing it in a timely manner. Children do not function well in chaos so it is important to me to keep things organized. It also cuts down on issues, like lost homework or projects. I also have the ability to cook meals or snacks if needed, even for picky eaters.
