I’m a nanny because My own children are all grown and my grandchildren are in Alaska--my oldest son is an Army officer and his family is currently stationed in Alaska. I enjoy being around children and learn so much from them. I enjoy the company of children and want them as an integral part of my life.

My past childcare experience I often joke that I have been a babysitter since I was 8 years old. (I'm the oldest of 7 children.) I have cared for children who range in age from infants to 8 years old. I've worked with twins and children who are very close in age. I have also worked with children who need extra care. I have worked as a tutor and teacher's aide in a small private school. I worked closely with children in Pre-K through the third grade. As the care provider for after school care, I watched over the children who stayed at school until they were picked up by their parents--keeping upwards to 30 kids happy after a day of school was sometimes challenging. My goal each time I meet a child is for that child to be happy to see me again. I think children need to be held when they cry, to be fed when they're hungry, and to nap when they're tired. I relish the company of children and enjoy their views of life.

Additional comments As a professional nanny, the skills that are required are often the same skills that a good horse trainer possess--anyone with t mind of its own may or may not do what you ask it to do. A good care provider knows how to ask for the response that is assured! If you want a child to laugh, do something silly, no matter how old the child is. If you want an adverse outcome, show no respect or concern for either the child or the horse. Above all children want to be respected and loved.
