I’m a nanny because I love teaching children and watch them grow. They make me smile. I feel I have a great deal to offer to a family and I will get a great deal in return from the experience.

My past childcare experience I used to go to babysit with my sister when I was little. As soon as I was old enough I started going on my own. I have worked in a variety of settings including positions as a live-in nanny, mother's helper, working at a home daycare, summer camps, daycare centers, schools, dance studio, library, ski resort, and water park. I have worked with children ages 6 weeks old all the way up to 12th graders. Most of my experience is with children ages 6 weeks to 8 years of age. Roles include live-in nanny, camp counselor, babysitter, teacher, life guard, ski instructor, and much more. The experiences and dates are too numerous to list here. Specifics available on request.

Additional comments Ever since I was a child myself I have loved to be around children, and they always love to spend time with me. They have always fascinated me and made me smile. I have worked in a variety of settings including working at a home daycare, summer camps, daycare centers, schools, dance studios, a library, ski resort, and water park. I have worked with children ages 6 weeks old all through the teen years. Most of my experience is with children ages 6 weeks to 8 years of age. Roles include positions as a live in nanny, mother's helper (both at a family home and on vacation), camp counselor (arts & crafts and gymnastics), babysitter, nanny, health and physical education teacher, assistant dance teacher, preschool disability class aid (for a girl with Cerebral Palsy), life guard, ski instructor, and much more. When I was growing up my family always worked together. I would help my father with the outside chores and my sister enjoyed helping my mother inside. I remember always eating dinner together as a family and celebrating holidays with aunts, uncles and cousins. We were greatly loved, but not spoiled. I was always encouraged to pursue my interests even if they were not the same as my parents. Most important was just to be a good person. I am very close with my family, especially with my parents. My mother and father live in Rockland County, NY with Peaches, who is now the family cat. They are both retired, but continue to be very active. I have one older sister who is married and has six children. I enjoy going shopping to buy things for my nieces and nephews. When I am with children I instill a variety of values. I often incorporate character development into all areas of life. Being respectful, responsible, caring/considerate, cooperative, fair, honest, open minded, diverse, and a good citizen are specific examples of values that I focus on improving. I want children to know that they don't have to be an expert or the best at something to enjoy and participate in it. Trying new things is always encouraged along with always trying your best. These qualities are instilled through modeling, role playing, positive corrective feedback as well as positive reinforcement. I also make a point of teaching that no one is perfect and everyone makes mistakes. It is how we use these mistakes to become the best that we can be that counts. Whether you learned what not to do, solved a problem or conflict, had to compromise, agreed to disagree, or apologized, it is always a learning experience. I believe in the importance of having a good education, diversity, responsibility, manners, and treating others with respect. I am gentle, yet strict with rules especially when safety is involved. I love all the children of whom I teach or help care for with all my heart. I already know that I can get and maintain a job. Now, I want to get a job that I am good at and love doing. There isn’t anything more that I want than to find a family that is a match. All I need is to be given a chance and your family will see what a treasure you have discovered.
