I’m a nanny because I have always had a great way with children. I am very good at teaching, creating fun activities and being a good example for children to follow. Children bring so much joy to my life. I love having a job that is fun and puts a smile on my face.
My past childcare experience I started babysitting for family friends and neighbors when I was 12 years old. While in High School I took all of the Child Development Courses and I worked at a Pre School all 4 years. After High School I babysat several times a year while I attended Cosmetology School. I decided to become a full time Nanny after I was done at Cosmetology School. I was debating whether or not I should go to college to become an elementary school teacher. I was a full time Nanny for 3 years and I worked for 2 different families daily. The first family that I worked for had one child. He was 18 months old. I watched him full time until he turned 5 years old. For the years I was his nanny we spent a lot of time doing learning activities, going on fun day trips to the zoo and other places he enjoyed. Once he was old enough to be in classes I took him a couple days a week to pre preschool classes at the park district and once he was in preschool I would drop him off and pick him up. During the hours he was at preschool I would run errands for his parents, clean the house and create fun projects for us to do during his free time. The second family that I worked for was for 2 junior high children. I would start my day working for them at 3pm when I would pick them up from school. I would bring drop them off and pick them up from their many activities during the week. While they were at their activities I would do laundry, pack their lunches for the next day, clean the house and run any errands that the parents needed done. When the children were home I would make them an after school snack and make sure they had their homework done and that they were studying for upcoming tests. 4 1/2 years ago I decided to stop working as a Nanny for both families and I started working full time for our family business that my father runs. Over the past 5 years I am still very involved in the younger boys life. I babysit for him when his parents need help and I have been tutoring him in spelling, reading, writing and math 2-3 days a week when I am done with my full time job. Though I do not have a teaching degree, his parents know how well he works and responds with me so they decided to ask me to help him, which I believe reflects on how well I work with children.
