I’m a nanny because I am a recent college grad with a B.A. in Psychology. I have been working with children for as long as I can remember as a babysitter, then nanny, and currently in a school setting. I was fortunate growing up to have a stay-at-home Mom who was able to attend all school and athletic functions in which my two brothers and I were participants. I understand that for some families this isn't an option, and parents need to feel comfortable leaving their child with a person they can trust. I am an extremely understanding, flexible, and trustworthy individual with a great deal of compassion. I have always been active in athletics and jump at the chance to spend the day outside, at the beach or the park. In the past, I have provided a variety of services to families including tutoring, transportation, cooking/cleaning, as well as supplying an extra set of hands while on vacation. I'm laid-back and open-minded but also possess the qualities of professionalism and responsibility.
My past childcare experience After working fairly extensively with children ranging in age from newborns to school age, I would consider my childcare style flexible. I believe that in order to effectively work for a family and their child(ren) it is first necessary to understand their parenting style. I believe it is imperative that children have some boundaries to ensure personal health and safety, but I also believe that children should be allowed to express themselves freely and build character and personality traits. All of the children that I have worked with (past and present) have exhibited their own unique personalities and I believe it is important to encourage and facilitate their growth. With that said, I also acknowledge that it is imperative for children to have limitations and guidance from an adult that is caring and supportive.
