I’m a nanny because The above description says it all. But, here's my philosophy which is why I love mentoring children and youth of all ages. I have, in the past been passionate about my role in the life of more than one child or young person. It is extremely satisfying to help raise and mentor a child along the way to their becoming the ultimate young adult who is confident, has a sense of fair play, is honest, a good friend to their peers, respects the rights of others and is a positive addition to their community, develops goals and dreams about reaching some of them successfully and are willing to try, without the fear of failure. They learn that we don't succeed in everything we attempt. This enables us to eventually find our niche, and are good at--what we want to do. It is ok to not always reach the top of some of our aspirations. Failing is not always bad, not trying or giving our best is the negative force that will cripple our chances and at times is met with negative reinforcement and is often repeated if not corrected. Not succeeding is not always failure--we learn to be proud of our attempts and take away knowledge and experience. All of these combined, in addition to growing in a positive environment is part and parcel of the person we become. Children reflect as young adults all of the experiences they have had along the way. It is also important to create an environment that is a positive, healthy, happy and a fun place that will provide security and comfort, where they feel safe and positive and offers the best learning atmosphere possible where can learn and grow. It should be one where they are provided all of the tools and experiences nessary for their day to day growth and development. It provides the comfort and love that enables them to accept the times when they fall short of their goals, and where they can accept the consequences of making mistakes to that they can safely learn from all of their experiences. It's important that positive role models be present during their growth from infancy to young adulthood--those who will have been there during their formative years, provided the security and love they needed to have the courage to move forward and accept the new challenges that they encounter along their journey as they navigate life and their future. It also teaches kids to be good sports and confident enough about who they are to accept defeat and cheer on someone else's good furtune, so that when it is their turn, others will want to cheer them on. All of these parcels of experience and growth are also reflected in their grades along the way. Learning and developing a sharp mind intellectualy also instills courage, enthusiasm and willingness to explore the world through books and educational offerings on TV. The more intellectually they can grow, the more information and knowledge they will have--it compounds like interest on a bank account. This will enable them to grow into young adults who are passionate about life and will want to learn more and more and all through life, this knowledge is the foundation to continue onto the next level. Kids need to be challenged to widen their circle of knowledge about ALL THINGS IN THE WORLD AND EVERYDAY LIFE, and that combined with what they learn in school each year is what makes a great student who is an achiever. In this day and age young people need to move into the adult world armed with all of the knowledge they can get, growing as they go until they finally become very informed young adults. From there throughout their life this will be used as a basis for adding more knowledge and education about all manner of things and circumstances they will encounter in their adult life, in their roles as a marriage partner and as a parent themselves. Bobby Kennedy once said, "men and women with freed minds can often be mistaken but seldom fooled". He, of course was talking about education and a mind armed with some knowledge about many things--an informed mind. Being truly informed and having a thirst for knowledge, combined with a good education is truly what sets individuals free. Moving through life and navigating their way in the adult world when they are out of the nest and it is all up to them, makes for a self-assured, proud but humble, well-adjusted and resourceful, proud but humble adult. Along the way it is a joy to watch every stage of their development and be an active part as one of the pieces to the puzzle that turns out the final product. Along the way as they become teens you can feel them slowely moving toward independence, and that is exactly what we all should wish and hope for as our duty and role changes to one of a proud bystanders, cheerleaders, whose job it becomes to become an advisor and give support from a distance and when asked to do so.

My past childcare experience “ I'm a great candidate for job as nanny. I, of course, raised my own daughter, assisted with care of my grandson since he was a baby taking him once, twice a week and did a lot of fun things with him. I helped raise my now teenage niece since she was tiny. She stayed with me for days at a time. I provided her life with lots of enrichment and valuable experiences. Managed her career showing horses, took her back and forth twice a week to her trainer in Scottsdale-we traveled, she took up ballet and performed, took her to church so she could grow in a faith-she became an acolyte. Together we worked on her reading, writing, spelling, grammatical skills both written, spoken, punctuation, social studies, geography, math tables. We watched quality TV together-Animal Planet, Nat. Geo., Discovery Channel, so she would learn about biology, the world, and environment. On those days I took her to school and we ate breakfast in the cafeteria. I took her to the dentist, shopping for clothes, taught her about grooming, good taste in clothes, style, took her to lunch, dinner, events. I taught her how to help serve when I entertained. Let her and her friends help serve when I held entertained with Coffees and Teas and receptions, particularly at the holidays. She learned how to greet guests, and proper etiquette--I let her help with food preparation for these functions. Let her help me tend the herb garden and pick the herbs we used. She's now a lovely, confident and caring teen (age 15). I am meticulous particularly with kitchen and bathrooms. I am good natured, enthusiastic, aware, pro-active, knowledgeable and informed about most issues--including health and healthy eating and other issues involving the world in which we live. I am an accomplished cook. I am patient and caring. I engage children in conversation and turn issues or problems into learning experiences. I have a clean driving record. Regards, Charlene. * Prefer live-in, particularly for full-time. If part-time I DON'T expect to be paid then for hours outside of required time. Once set, I would probably help otherwise as well. Please feel free to call me.

Additional comments I have helped with my grandson, who is now 12, from infancy, even taking him to his doctor's appointments. Over the years I have provided him with lots of books and other learning materials. To date he is a very smart young man who was an officer of his student body at his grade school in Anthem. I have played a major role in the development of my young niece who is now 15 and a half and about to get her Learner's Permit. Besides her, I have in some way made a contribution in the lives of 6 other youths, providing show horses to they could show in Quarter Horse and Paint Horse Shows and Reining Horse shows. They would not have been able to do it and work toward their goals as their families could not afford the type of horses they needed to work toward their dreams of riding in the World Shows, winning here in the state of AZ, and one had the dream of qualifying for the U. S. Equestrian Team Youth Finals in Reining. I provided her with a special quarter horse which was trained and being ridden by his trainer (also her trainer) in the open derby reining shows. She qualified winning a qualifier outright and tied for the silver medal at the USET championship Finals in OK City. My young niece that I speak of has ridden a horse I gave her to win many high point state awards in barrel racing and pole bending. I am passionate about the development of youths. They will be the legacy we leave. They will be running America one day. We need to do our job now so they will be ready. Turning out admirable young adults ready to take up the torch and move forward and provide successfully raised young people themselves one day is the greatest legacy we can leave and the finished product about which we can be the proudest. Our heirs and grand heirs will reflect the job we did--for decades, even centuries to come. It is the only thing we will leave--not our careers nothing else--that will continue to reflect our efforts and carry our imprint.

My last job was a couple years ago. I babysat for 1 family with 1 (8) year old. A few months prior I had babysat for 2 families. One had two children ages 8 and 12. The other family has 3 children ages 4, 9, and 13. In college at ASU I taught swim lessons in home and babysat for two families in the same neighborhood. One of the families had 2 boys ages 4 and 5 and the other family had one girl who was 3. When I was in Junior High & High School I used to babysit for a couple families on a weekly basis.
