I’m a nanny because I want to become a nanny because I am a hard working individual who's work ethic and positive attitude motivates not only the children that I have worked with but also my friends and peers. My experience with children has given me the ability to encourage and facilitate learning, encourage healthy behaviors, and to provide positive motivation to children. One example of this is a five year old who I worked with who was very curious about the outdoor world as well as words he has never heard. I used this as a learning opportunity to expand his vocabulary and because I have studied various scientific subjects, as a way to teach and provoke interest and learning about nature. He picked up the information quick, and was super excited to use these new words he learned and even surprised his mom by using words such as pounce, investigate, and absorb. He once asked me why lizards always sit in the sun and I explained to him that they were cold blooded and what that meant. he was so excited about this, he told his mom as soon as she came home and explained it to me the next time I came over. Along with inspiring learning, I have also inspired children to develop important and productive habits that will progress to important life skills such as organization, communication, and problem solving. One example of this is making a game out of cleaning up toys. I had a child who was five years old who did not like to put her toys away so I decided to make a game out of it and after all the toys were put away we would lay down in the play space to enjoy the clean floor. She really enjoyed this idea and started putting her toys away on her own and would proudly show me or her parents how clean the space looked. The children I worked with really looked up to me and would copy me so they could be like me. When they saw me cleaning dishes they would want to help or if I was eating a carrot or an orange that suddenly became their favorite food. Because of this, I am always aware of what I am doing, how I am doing it, and what message I portray in order to present myself as a positive role model and to encourage positive behaviors. My friends and fellow peers are often inspired and motivated by my work ethic as well as the effort and determination I put into studying for exams and completing assignments. My fellow peers are inspired by my work ethic and have even started joining me in late nights at the library when we all have an extensive amount of work to do. They mention when they feel too exhausted or don't want to study seeing my determination motivates them to finish work or to continue studying for their exam.

My past childcare experience Growing up, I often watched my sister as well as the younger children in my neighborhood. I also participated in an extensive amount of time volunteering at local charities throughout my middle school and high school years, and would put in around 70 hours of volunteer work a year. Much of work that often involved children. My favorite experiences include volunteering to help teach summer school and working with special needs children at local community events. I also worked for xx during the summer of 2012. During my experience working as a nanny, I learned many great skills such as preparing nutritious meals, calming temper tantrums, resolving sibling fights, caring for infants, and communicating with parents. The most valuable skills I acquired was being able to have positive interactions with children and parents, as well as present myself in a responsible way that children looked up to and parents appreciate.
