Full-Time Available Nanny Natalia in New York, NY

A little bit about me…I am a third-year Psychology student at Barnard College, Columbia University and am currently taking a sabbatical year to work and enjoy NYC. I am trilingual in English, Spanish, and French; fluent in Italian, and conversational in German and Portuguese.

I am an American citizen, but I was born and raised in Ecuador, which has a family and community based culture. I have no official babysitting experience, because it is common for family members to take care of children in Ecuador. Over the last 5 years I have had cared for three toddler boy cousins. It comes naturally to make children laugh and feel motivated; as a result, my cousins always follow me around when I visit. I have tutor experience, and can help with homework.

I grew up without a T.V. and my younger brother and I enjoyed active creative play. We would create elaborate worlds in our living room and backyard that would entertain us for hours on end; something that I am still able to apply when playing with children.

More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were…I've informally cared for 3 cousin toddlers from different family units over the last 10 years. Ecuador uses this system vs formal babysitting, as individuals rely heavily on family members to take care of both children and the elderly. Additionally, it is illegal to work under the age of 18 in Ecuador because of child labor laws. Otherwise, I would have formal experience. I feel completely capable and confident as a caregiver for children.
Activities I enjoy doing with children…Language development, creative and fantasy play, artwork, reading, dancing, games, and sports.
The most important part about being a nanny…The most important part about being a nanny is being responsible for the children in your care, as well as being proactive in their child development by creating a safe-space in which they can engage in creative, educational, and fantasy play and activities.
My experience with special needs children…I have never personally cared for special needs children, but I grew up with both an aunt and an older cousin with special needs, and I am sensitive and keenly aware of the challenges our family and other families face.
My favorite nanny moment…Over the summer, we had a large family gathering in which I spent hours on the floor with my baby cousin who had just learned to stand up and was starting to walk. He would walk away from me after handing me his shoe, squealing with delight as I cheered him on, teeter for a moment, and much to everyone's surprise, learned to turn around without falling over and wobble back towards me to take the shoe away, only to repeat this sequence over and over again throughout the afternoon.
