More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were…I have additionally done lots of volunteer work with kids. For three years I volunteered with Girls Inc., an after school organization that connected families with free resources including child care, tutoring, exercise, therapy, and academic advising. As a mentor and tutor I worked with the same girls every day. Some days consisted of dance parties and crafts while others we talked through family or school issues to find a solution.
Activities I enjoy doing with children…-baking
-arts and crafts
-reading
-building (legos, blocks, forts etc.)
-Anything outside: walks, going to the park, sledding, any sort of adventure.
-board games
-sports (I played soccer, ultimate frisbee, and ran track in high school)
-ski (I used to work as a ski instructor and in the past have gotten to take kids I nanny up for a day!)
The most important part about being a nanny…Is building a relationship with kids. My work as a nanny has been incredibly rewarding: watching kids grow up, make mistakes, and try new things. Kids are constantly teaching me about myself. I still write and receive letters from two girls I nannied two years ago, it makes my heart full to build meaningful connections like these.
