Relevant experience where I also cared for children were…I worked as a summer camp counselor for 3 summers, living with and caring for 8 children at a time alone. I was the director of the Outdoor Living & Cooking program, where I took roughly 40 children on adventures in nearby woods and creeks, teaching them the fundamentals of nature and survival.
Activities I enjoy doing with children…I try to cater my activities to the preferences of the children I'm working with, every child is different! My go-to favorites, however, are baking and crafting. I really like to take children to public events/parks, so that I can encourage independent play.
My experience with special needs children…I have cared for a profoundly dead child from ages 0-8 months. I have also worked as a math tutor for a 7 year old girl with slight dyslexia.
My favorite nanny moment…As a nanny, I spend a lot of time with the children in my care, so I try to include as many teachable moments as possible. One day during breakfast, I asked the 4yo I was working with " Hey, do you know where milk comes from?" He looked at me like I was ridiculous for even asking him that, and replied "DUH... from Meijer..."
